CBS already renewed Magnum P.I. season 4 in April 2021 ahead of the official release of the season 3 finale. One of the biggest questions entering the next installment is whether or not Perdita Weeks is coming back as Juliet Higgins in the crime action drama.

The third season left Higgins' fate hanging up in the air in Magnum P.I. season 4. She decided to leave Hawaii to accompany her boyfriend, Dr. Ethan Shah (Jay Ali), on Doctors Without Borders trip. Because of this, some speculated that she may not return as Thomas Magnum's (Jay Hernandez) partner.

But, viewers should not worry about the future of Higgins as her departure isn't a permanent one. In the latest post on Twitter, the official writer's room account of the series confirmed that Weeks' character is "absolutely" coming back in the fourth installment.

That means Higgins will remain to be part of Magnum P.I. season 4. She'll be back in Hawaii, though it's yet to be seen how her Doctors Without Borders trip with Ethan will play out moving forward. Also, there's a question if they'll still be together once she returns to the island.

Over the past few episodes of the recently-ended season 3, there were speculations that Higgins and Magnum will be romantically involved at some point. Although the latter claimed that they were just "friends," his partner's absence could make him realize that he feels something more towards her.

Moreover, some of his friends were suspicious about his actions. They believe that he tried to convince Higgins to go because he knew that she really wanted to be with Ethan on the trip. They also think that he did this out of love and to show how much he cares for her.

He likely sacrificed his own happiness just to make sure that his "business partner" is happy. He's been saying that they're just friends, but some suspected that he's trying to mask his feelings. Since Higgins is coming back in Magnum P.I. season 4, the titular character might show more of his feelings to her.

Meanwhile, fans may need to wait for a while as the crime action won't be coming back on CBS anytime soon. The third installment has just ended, so production may not begin immediately. Filming will likely begin a few months after the season 3 finale.

Since Magnum P.I. season 4 production has yet to begin, the official release date remains unknown as of this writing.
