One Piece Episode 974, titled "I'm Oden and I was Born to Boil," will see the last of Oden and his dramatic flashback. Fans are about to witness the sacrifice the Daimyo of Kuri made to save his people and the Wano Country.

The anime may return to the present time after One Piece Episode 974. So here, the reason behind everything that Oden did in the past will be revealed.

The new episode preview, via BlockToro, shows Oden standing in the boiling pot while trying his best to keep his balance while lifting all the Scabbards on the lid. Kaido and Orochi seem to enjoy watching the execution.

The villagers then learn the truth about Oden, but it is too late for them to defend the son of the former Shogun. The trailer ends with Oden showing a bright smile on his face.

What makes him smile that bright? Fans are about to see why in One Piece Episode 974.

The veteran Kunoichi reveals to the people of Wano the good deed Oden has done for them with tears in her eyes. His eccentric naked dance, which he performs regularly every week for five years, is to protect Wano Kuni and its citizens.

This move surprises everyone and a surge of emotion makes them beg Orochi to stop the execution. Oden's action and sacrifice for the Wano people have reached different parts of the world and it is later revealed that he is the only hope the town got.

In One Piece Episode 973, a brief recap of Oden and the Akazaya members' defeat against Kaido and his legion of beast pirates was revealed. It then showed Oden and his samurais ready for the execution.

But before it began, Oden tried to haggle for their lives, asking Kaido to give him a chance and propose a deal, IBTimes noted. He wanted Kaido to let them all jump in the boiling pot together and gave them an allotted time to stay there.

If anyone of them would survive, Oden must set them all free. Kaido agreed and Oden jumped on the boiling water that gradually burned his body.

The Akazaya members followed his lead, but Oden pulled out a wooden plank, carried it above his head, and asked his people to stay on the top of it until the given time ended. The samurais asked their leader to put them down, not letting him endure the punishment alone, but he knew he was the only one who could bear this pain.

What happens from here will be seen when One Piece Episode 974 drops on Sunday, May 16, at 9:30 a.m. on Crunchyroll and Netflix, per OtakuKart News.
