MGM Resorts has received permission from the Nevada Gaming Control Board to run its casinos at 100% capacity and without social distancing.

Las Vegas Gaming In Full Blast

MGM Resorts said the board granted permission for its Las Vegas Strip casinos - which include The Mirage Hotel & Casino.

MGM Resorts chief executive Bill Hornbuckle said the waiver was "a testament to the importance of vaccination in efforts to fully reopen our community."

The waiver was granted because of the company's efforts to vaccinate its workers. It has been working with Community Ambulance in its vaccination drive.

To encourage more employees to get inoculated, MGM Resorts launched the "Show Your Vaxx" campaign. Employees who upload their vaccination cards into the company's internal website get the chance to win various prizes such as cash, hotel stays, vouchers and tickets.

Approved Casinos

The following properties will resume 100% capacity operations effective immediately:  New York-New York Hotel & Casino, Bellagio Resort & Casino, Park MGM, Luxor Hotel and Casino, MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Excalibur Hotel & Casino, The Mirage Hotel & Casino and ARIA Resort & Casino

Restrictions For Non-Gaming Floors

While social distancing measures have been lifted in casinos, non-gaming floors at Las Vegas Strip facilities still need to follow certain rules.

Non-gaming floors will only operate at 80% capacity to ensure better management of coronavirus-related restrictions.

Customers and employees alike in non-gaming floors, such as pools, restaurants and similar sites are expected to practice social distancing of 3 feet.

Mask-wearing is still required for both gaming and non-gaming floors. The company said it is "committed" to performing its part in ensuring that employees and guests are protected from COVID-19.

Parking Fees Returning Next Month

While casino goers are thrilled by the news of no social distancing rules in casinos, MGM Resorts announced earlier this week that it will start charging fees for self-parking again next month.

Valet parking will also resume at all MGM properties starting June 1, as free parking was only applied to self-parking when the service started.

Prices vary depending on the number of hours parked, but self-parking fees in select hotels range from $15 to $18, with the daily maximum rate being applied after four hours.

For all other hotels under MGM Resorts, the self-parking fee will range from $12 to $15.
