Chicago P.D. season 8 finale centers on Marina Squerciati's Kim Burgess. She was left in a dangerous situation in the penultimate episode and her fate remains uncertain right now. The team needs to race against time to rescue her from the people who took her.

Chicago P.D. season 8 finale comes with the title "The Other Side" and it will be the continuation of the previous outing. Burgess's life is on the line after being knocked out by a man while doing an undercover mission. Her whereabouts were unknown at the moment, which is a huge challenge for the team.

In the penultimate, titled "The Right Thing," the Intelligence raided different places in Chicago, but Burgess went on the mission alone and goes undercover. She is determined to accomplish this by herself, yet she puts her life on the line in the process.

Burgess called the team when she arrived in the building, but a man suddenly struck her through the window and dragged her out of the car. The episode ended with the suspect standing over her, who is now unconscious. This will be the biggest mission of the team in Chicago P.D. season 8 finale.

The Intelligence will do everything to get Burgess back, but they need more resources to track her location down. This isn't an easy task for them, especially since they're also trying to bring down a deadly crime ring. Still, they won't stop until they rescue one of their own.

The biggest question, however, is how far they're feeling to go to save Burgess? There are lines they cannot cross as police officers, something that could complicate their rescue mission. This is going to be a major subject in Chicago P.D. season 8 finale.

In a previous interview with TVLine, LaRoyce Hawkins, who plays Kevin Atwater, further discussed how Burgess's current situation will impact the entire team. He said that this incident will force them to figure out the crisis and do their best to help their colleague.

Hawkins added that "concepts like reform are challenged." He explained that the passion they have for their job [- including where their hearts and minds are -- will get "stretched." Thus, whatever is coming for Burgess could bring significant changes for the Intelligence, as well.

Chicago P.D. season 8 finale is set to arrive on Wednesday, May 26, on NBC.
