Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) is caught up in a complicated situation in Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 14, titled "Safe." She finds herself in a spot where she has to make a decision in choosing between the two most important people in her life.

In Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 14, Upton is in a position where she's forced to choose between her mentor, Hank Voight, (Jason Beghe), and the man she likes, Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer). Conflicts may arise because of this, especially since both men care for her.

According to the synopsis of Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 14, "after a series of brutal home invasion robberies, Upton immerses herself in the case and finds herself caught between Voight and Halstead." In the end, the decision all depends on Spiridakos' character -- as she tends to choose the right solution.

Upton hasn't been given a spotlight as of late, so it would be interesting to see how this storyline would impact her. During the early run of the current installment, there were speculations that the character is leaving the police procedural but she remained part of the story until now.

Meanwhile, Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 14 will also continue some of the happenings in episode 13, titled "Trouble Dolls." The relationship of Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) is being tested in many ways.

Burgess, in particular, needs to figure out a lot of things in her life -- including the decision to adopt Makayla. She wants Ruzek to make a custodial guardian of the girl if ever something happens to her. But then, the biggest question is whether he's ready for the responsibility.

Speaking to TVLine, Squerciati said that Burgess and Ruzek's relationship will be further tested moving forward. The actress noted that there is an iceberg between the two right now, but no matter who's mad in their relationship, they'll remain the "endgame."

Ruzek and Burgess have been through a lot, with the latter suffering miscarriage while on a mission. This incident hugely affected them, but they were able to support each other at the time. Problems are part of their relationship, which actually makes them stronger.

Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 14 airs on Wednesday, May 12, on NBC. Only three episodes were left after this one and more stories are coming leading to the season finale. The good news is that the future of the show won't be a concern as the network already renewed it for season 9.
