Three years into marriage, news emerged Prince Harry was mad at the royal insider who leaked the information about his relationship with Meghan Markle to the press. Journalist and royal commentator Ashley Pearson made the revelation, claiming the alleged leaker is Princess Eugenie.
In her 2021 documentary "Secrets of the Royal - The Markles vs. The Monarchy," Pearson revealed that Prince Harry was "incandescent and furious" toward the alleged leaker from Prince Andrew's camp. With the so many leaks happening in the royal family, the Duke of Sussex might not be ready yet for a big relationship revelation at the time, especially it involved Meghan, Express noted.
Alternatively, the memoir "Finding Freedom" revealed the leak came from Prince Andrew's courtier. Omid Scobie and Carolyn Duran said Princess Eugenie and her father told The Sunday Express about Prince Harry and Meghan's relationship.
Scobie and Duran also claimed Princess Eugenie has a very close relationship with her cousin. So, she was one of the first few people to whom Prince Harry told about Meghan.
However, other reports claimed there might be no way that she would leak the news. In fact, Eugenie and Prince Harry have maintained a close relationship until today. It was even asserted the father-of-two might need the help of Jack Brooksbank's wife for his bombshell autobiography.
According to The Sun, author JR Moehringer, who will ghost-write the book, may "bypass formal channels" and reach Prince Harry's inner circle through the duke himself. Royal correspondent Matt Wilkinson attested Princess Eugenie is still in regular contact with Meghan's husband.
She is the only royal family member who has a close relationship with the former "Suits" star. Compared to other royals, Princess Eugenie shows big support to her 40x40 mentorship campaign on Instagram.
Truth be told, she is also the one behind Prince Harry and Meghan's blind date back in 2016, along with the fashion PR Violet Westenholz and designer Misha Nonoo. In her interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that she had known Princess Eugenie before Prince Harry.
