The success of Netflix's "Squid Game" makes the wait for "Alice in Borderland" Season 2 more intense with the same dystopian theme it both have. Now that the show has received a green light to continue, what can fans expect in the second season?
Netflix officially announced the coming of "Alice in Borderland" Season 2 two weeks after it dropped its first season. So, what new set of adventures Arisu has to undergo to survive?
The series' first installment mostly covered Haro Aso's manga with the same name. There are still 33 chapters left to cover, though the streaming giant may take its story to a different route to prolong the tale.
Arisu has already survived a number of deadly games and a new set of dangerous matches is about to begin, Digital Spy noted. Fans can expect it to be more difficult now that a new controller will take hold of their lives.
Here, Mira will play a major role as the new villain in the series. She was first introduced as a high-ranking member of the beach.
But at the end of the first season, she was revealed to be the Game Master. She tried to control everyone behind the scenes and she would continue to do so in "Alice in Borderland" Season 2.
Could Arisu still survive this new set of much-dangerous games? With Usagi by his side, things might be easier for the series' protagonist.
In fact, this gives birth to theories that their relationship will start to go deeper. Will Usagi and Arisu end up together? These two may also work together with Chishiya and Kuina, who also survived the first set of games, per The Cinemaholic.
Meanwhile, the second season will see the return of some of the first season's original cast. Of course, Kento Yamazaki will return as Arisu, along with Tao Tsuchiya as Usagi.
Fans will also see Aya Asahina once again as Kuina, Nijirō Murakami as Chishiya, Riisa Naka as Kano and Sho Aoyagi as Morizono. There will also be new faces coming, though Netflix is yet to officially announce who they will be.
As of now, the filming for the second season has, reportedly, begun. Anyhow, knowing the series needs to have excessive use of VFX, it may take a little while before its post-production process finally gets completed.
This may mean "Alice in Borderland" may not be out until 2022-either in the second or the third quarter. But as Netflix has yet to confirm anything, fans should only take these assumptions with a grain of salt.
