Meghan Markle seemed to have admitted that she and her husband, Prince Harry, had something to do with their controversial biography, "Finding Freedom." The Duchess of Sussex had already apologized for forgetting she talked to her aide about the book.

In a witness statement, Meghan revealed she and Prince Harry gave their aides the consent to talk to "Finding Freedom" authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. This is despite the number of times the Sussexes had refused that they had any involvement with making the book.

The couple's spokesperson said in 2020 that Scobie and Durand "do not speak for the royals." They were not even interviewed or gave any contribution to it.

The spokesman stressed the book was based on the authors' own experiences as members of the royal press corps and through their own reporting. However, in a witness statement, the former actress seemed to have said the opposite and admitted to having forgotten the email exchanged she had with an aide about the biography.

She said emails she had with the press secretary Jason Knauf about the meeting with Scobie and Durand had "slipped her mind," per Express. She, then, issued an apology to the Court for forgetting these exchanges.

Meghan emphasized she did not intend to mislead Defendant of the Court. She even said that if she remembered the emails, she would be "more than happy" to show them as strong evidence for her case.

The "Suits" star added she referred to the background details that she shared with Knauf as "reminders" and much of the information said was already requested as far as 2016. At the time, Knauf asked him for the timeline about her family to answer media questions about it.

Prince Harry's wife stressed it was way different from the detailed personal information, like her private letter, the defendant alleged that she wanted to be put into the public domain. This claim had been made during the legal proceedings between Meghan and Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) for the copyright infringement of the letter she sent to her father, Thomas Markle, Sr., 9Honey noted.

ANL argued Prince Harry and Meghan cooperated with Durand and Scobie "to put their version of certain events" in "Finding Freedom." Alternatively, Knauf revealed in a witness statement that the couple "authorized specific cooperation in writing" in December 2018. He even claimed the book was directly discussed with Meghan a number of times over email and in person.
