Throwing lavish Christmas parties is not uncommon among high-profile personalities. But, the case is different this year for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Apart from the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the Sussex couple reportedly wants to keep things "simple" this Christmas. Insiders told OK! magazine that they want to "nest" and cook meals in their home in California.

While enjoying the holiday season with their two children, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will, also, likely, invite some guests. Sources said that they will entertain "friends and colleagues" who have remained by their side through thick and thin this 2021. These reportedly include David Foster and Katharine McPhee, as well as Markle's mother, Doria Ragland.

The same informants continued that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have already done a lot of "thoughtful shopping" for their loved ones, especially their children. There will reportedly be books, toys, and other treats from Santa that will make the two kids happy.

In addition, the Duke of Sussex will send some letters and gifts to a few individuals in England. But, there is no other place he would rather be than with his wife and children, sources maintained.

Page Six previously reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have no plans to return to the United Kingdom for this year's Christmas. This is reportedly despite receiving an invitation to join the rest of the British Royal Family at Sandringham.

Royal sources told the publication that staff learned about the matter as the family's Christmas celebration entails a lot in terms of logistics. Accordingly, if the Sussex couple intended to go, they would have already communicated it back.

Insiders consequently noted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not seemingly want to make headlines, which would be apparent if they fly back to the United Kingdom.

As for the British Royals, it is said that Prince William and Kate Middleton, alongside their three children, will join Queen Elizabeth II this Christmas. It will be the first holiday celebration the family will have without Prince Philip, and, also, the first to be together for the season since last year.

The annual Christmas plans changed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They canceled the usual festivities at Sandringham, as well as the holiday party at Buckingham Palace.

The British Monarch quietly celebrated Christmas last year with the Duke of Edinburgh in Windsor. The rest of the Windsor clan did, as well, with their respective families.

As for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, they had their 2020 Christmas in the United States, marking their first holiday celebration in their new home.
