Queen Elizabeth II usually hosts the annual Christmas celebration of the British Royal Family. Prince William and Kate Middleton have attended these events every year, starting from 2013.

The Cambridge Royals tied the knot in 2011. A year later, though, they decided to celebrate the holiday season with the Duchess of Cambridge's family.

The Express UK unearthed some claims from sources, who told Grazia, at that time, that the royal-born Prince had a "realization" after spending the holidays with the Middletons. It was said that he discovered "how much more enjoyable the festive period could be" if their family celebrated the season informally.

The insiders alleged that Prince William, then, "tried to shake up" Queen Elizabeth II's Christmas plans. As explained, the royals have always experienced formal and duty-filled annual celebrations. Guests have reportedly even received "timetables and instructions" for the yearly events.

The Duke of Cambridge, also, allegedly campaigned it with the Duchess of Cambridge. They tried to bring the "informal flavor" to the Royal Firm.

Whether the claims are factual or not, no confirmations have emerged, even during the time of reporting. Accordingly, it remains unclear if the Cambridge couple, indeed, had a bid to change the annual royal Christmas celebrations of the Queen.

Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton will spend this year's Christmas with the British Monarch, according to Us Weekly. Sources claimed that it will be a "big family affair," adding that the couple's three young children are "absolutely delighted" to see their great-grandmother again.

The same insiders, also, shared that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have already chosen their presents for the Queen. They reportedly "spent hours picking out their own festive gifts" for her.

The British Royals had to spend last year's holiday season with their respective families due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip spent their last Christmas together in Windsor.

But, the plans have seemingly kept on changing these past few days. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, reports said Queen Elizabeth II had to cancel this year's pre-Christmas lunch in Buckingham Palace.

Accordingly, it remains uncertain as to what the British Royals will exactly do come the holiday season.

Even so, Kate Middleton recently expressed her excitement to host her upcoming Carol ConcertPeople said that she brought together charities and volunteers for the engagement at Westminster Abbey.

Royal Carols: Together at Christmas, which will feature Prince William, as well, will air on ITV1, on December 24.
