Ellen DeGeneres got "furious" with Portia de Rossi for suggesting an open marriage. The latter reportedly "broached the subject" to her wife but, the talk show host "hit the roof" upon hearing the matter.

Sources told Life & Style that this all began when some of their friends started to talk about "marital monogamy," causing a few to admit to exploring an open relationship. de Rossi is claimed to be "fascinated" by the subject to the point that she opened it up to DeGeneres.

But, "things got pretty heated" between the married couple. "The Ellen Show" host was allegedly appalled, saying what is the point of getting married.

The insiders continued that Ellen DeGeneres is "notoriously jealous." She does not want anyone getting close or near Portia de Rossi.

In maintaining the narrative, it is alleged that the "Scandal" actress now feels "antsy" because of her wife's recent career choices. Instead of stepping down from her long-running talk show, DeGeneres insisted on returning one last time.

This is despite de Rossi reportedly begging her not to do it, sparking "resentment" toward the television personality. In the end, the pair's relationship is said to be a "complete mess."

The informants did not, however, provide any proof to support the claims. No evidence has come to light, either, to verify the story.

Moreover, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have quashed the allegations by not acknowledging the narrative. Hence, unless they break their silence to clarify the matter, this will remain another groundless rumor about their marriage.

It is, also, worth noting that this is not the first time DeGeneres and de Rossi faced similar rumors and allegations about their relationship. But, in the last nearly two decades of being together, they have seemingly proven time again that they are doing well in their lives as a married couple.

On Monday, Ellen DeGeneres even made a "heartfelt" tribute to Portia de Rossi in celebration of the latter's 49th birthday. She took her thoughts and greetings to Instagram, saying that she cannot imagine her life without the actress in it.

MailOnline said that the accompanying photo in the social media update shows de Rossi in a pair of blue jeans and brown boots. She, also, has her blue shirt under a quilted vest.

The talk show host ended the post with a happy birthday, adding that she is "so glad" her wife was born.
