"Attack on Titan" Season 4 is now on its final episode, making fans wonder if it will be truly the end of the series. The anime still has a few manga chapters left to cover, so will there be a movie or a third part to finish Hajime Isayama's epic story?
"Attack on Titan" Season 4 has already aired its 86th episode, leaving fans with just one more to go-the final Episode 87. So, will this be enough to tie all the series' loose ends or a big announcement is about to come?
Comicbook noted that when fans compared the anime and the manga, the upcoming final episode, "The Dawn of Humanity," would only take the story up to Chapter 130. The manga ended in Chapter 139, leaving nine more chapters left uncovered.
So, what will happen to these remaining chapters? Reddit made math about the number of chapters the anime is covering.
A typical feature-length, which is about 20 to 25 minutes, will adapt one or a half chapters. So if there will be a move, the final nine manga chapters will perfectly run for two and a half hours if adapted into a movie.
With the exact timing, is it just a coincidence or is MAPPA already planning to make a movie to end the series? With the final episode's delay, fans hope there will be a big reveal at the upcoming AnimeJapan 2022this week.
Manga fans know the proper way to end the anime is through the movie to feature its climactic battles perfectly. Now that Eren has transformed into the Founding Titan and leading the Rumbling, it can't be denied that the series is currently on a higher level.
The events of the Rumbling will ideally play out in theaters and MAPPA surely knows this chance. It may capitalize on the series' success and hype now that it's about to end.
However, aside from a movie, there could also be a final set of episodes or "Attack on Titan" Season 4 Part 3. Though it may not be as lucrative as a movie release, it can still cash in on home video and streaming.
Meanwhile, it will still take more than a week before fans finally see the anime's final episode, per EpicStream. The series will take a one-week break to give way to a special program that will take its original timeslot on NHK General TV.
So instead of seeing the finale on the last week of March, it will be moved to the first week of April. Fans will finally see Eren's return and the Attack Titan's new look here.
"Attack on Titan" Season 4 Episode 87 will drop on Monday, April 4.
