"One Piece" Chapter 1044 has changed the way fans see Luffy's devil fruit. Just when everyone thought he had Gomu Gomu no Mi, what he really possesses is something much stronger that he may finally bring Kaido down.
A lot is about to happen in "One Piece" Chapter 1044. Aside from the revelations, it will also see the continuation of Kaido and Luffy's fight.
The new chapter's leaks revealed Luffy's devil fruit is the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, which he ate and is classified as a Mythical Zoan. Sports Keeda noted that this fruit lets its users transform into animals, either full beast form or a hybrid with human characteristics.
The users can also have a massive boost in their physical bodies. Mythical Zoans have also been proven powerful, as seen in the number of severe punishments Luffy has gone through that many may not survive.
He has been lost to Kaido several times but still manages to stand on his feet. He also carried the giant stone blocks in Udon prison despite the weakening effect of the Seastone cuffs.
In addition, he outlasted Rob Lucci's strongest attacks during the Enies Lobby and developed immunity to poisons after surviving Magellan in Impel Down. Lastly, he battled against the two Sweet Commanders in Whole Cake Island, which lasted more than 11 hours.
With that said, Luffy's Mythical Zoan gives him monstrous strength, legendary durability and huge amounts of stamina. All of these can be attributed to the sick fruit that he has.
Moreover, Luffy is about to face Kaido again in "One Piece" Chapter 1044. The Strawhat Pirates leader will grab Kaido and pull him up to the roof in a really savage way, per Recent Highlights.
Luffy has now awakened his devil fruit and calls it gear five. A huge blast black lightning hit the live floor, bringing Kaido's subordinates down.
