Loona's Chuu surprised everyone when news emerged she had filed a lawsuit against her label, Blockberry Creative. So, what would be the repercussions if Chuu had her contract terminated?
Chuu asked the court to suspend her contract with Blockberry Creative for an unknown reason. AllKpop noted she could no longer use her stage name for her promotions if this happened.
Idol Issue revealed the entertainment company had filed a trademark on the name Loona's Chu a month before. In fact, it happened while the lawsuit was already placed.
This move made fans question the label's motive. Hence, it resulted in a number of criticisms against the company.
One fan asked Blockberry Creative to leave Chuu alone. Others said it was the same thing that happened to B2ST.
Some added there were many other names the label could trademark, but why Chuu's name. "The agencies are so dumb, they are at a bigger loss if they lose Chuu," another said.
Meanwhile, in a report by Wikitree, Chuu had filed her lawsuit in December 2021. It was said she had already received partial approval from the court and could be given a preliminary injunction.
This meant her contract would be suspended so that there would be no "further harm" until the court could issue its final ruling. Blockberry Creative has yet to comment on the issue, while Chuu remains mum about it.
Chuu remains active with Loona, promoting for Mnet's "Queendom 2." She, too, still attends filming sessions and appears at promotional events, per Koreaboo.
For starters, Chuu debuted in 2017 as the 10th member of Loona. Since then, many have loved her since she was seen gracing different entertainment programs.
She has been known for her sweet smile and incredible charm. Also, she has been selected as an advertising model for different brands, like ion drinks, cosmetics, smart jelly, ramen, credit cards, and more, KBIZoom cited.
Chu, then, debuted with Heejin, Hyunjin, Haseul, Yeojin, Vivi, Kim Lip, Jinsol, Choerry, Yves, Gowon and Olivia Hye as a whole Loona group in 2018. The girls are behind some of the great K-pop songs, like "Hi High," "Butterfly," "So What," "Why Not?" and "PTT (Paint the Town)."
Fans are about to see Loona on "Queendom 2," which will be out on March 31. She had also reportedly participated in the recording for the upcoming Mnet show, so fans are about to see more of her in the coming days.
