On April 26, news emerged BLACKPINK would be releasing their comeback album in June. As many got excited about it, some started to doubt the news.
The claim about BLACKPINK's return came from an industry insider that an exclusive media outlet reported. With that said, netizens believed "insider comments" are quite suspicious.
Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa's much-awaited comeback has been a hot topic in different online communities-not just in Korea but also in other countries. If this pushes through, the group's first official album will be released after one and a half years.
However, some question the truth of it, AllKpop noted. Many believe that insider comments should be met with skepticism when it comes to YG Entertainment artists.
In fact, many share their reactions to it and some even left sarcastic comments about it. "Oh, so they mean the fall," one fan said. "Nah, that means winter," added another.
One netizen even gave an example of the situation. YG once said TREASURE would start follow-up promotions in April, but the month is almost over and nothing has happened yet.
The fan also mentioned the news about iKON and WINNER's return in May, but nothing has come to fruition yet. Now that BLACKPINK is said to make a comeback in June, can the company handle these comebacks altogether?
Another netizen stressed that when YG said a month, it would happen within a year, stressing making them hopeful was not funny at all. However, one fan predicted that the female hitmakers might release a single in June, followed by a full album in September or October.
The Korean news outlet Sports Dong-A broke the news about BLACKPINK's return, as said by an industry insider. The source revealed the girls are already preparing for their comeback with a new album "as early as June."
Though their official comeback date is yet to be revealed, Soompi noted all signs are pointing that it will be happening in the near future. In fact, in Jennie's guest appearance on "The Game Caterers 2" last month, she teased that the group "is preparing to make a comeback soon."
Jennie revealed she had no idea if she was allowed to say it, but as she was the only BLACKPINK member on the show that day, she would say what she wanted. "Please cheer us on a lot," she continued.
So, if BLACKPINK will indeed make a comeback in June, fans will hear new tracks from the girls after their last album dropped in October 2020. Their last full-length album was "THE ALBUM" with the hit song "Lovesick Girls."
