Many noticed Tom Cruise seemed to be at the same height as Kate Middleton when the latter attended the "Top Gun" premiere in London with her husband, Prince William. Knowing the A-list star only stands 5'7" and the Duchess of Cambridge is 5'9" with additional height because of her stilettos, this renews the rumors that the actor is wearing lifts in his shoes.

Kate Middleton is two inches taller than Tom Cruise and even towering in her heels, making the difference quite obvious when they stand side-by-side together. So, how does it happen that they seemed to be at the same height in the "Top Gun: Maverick" premiere?

The 59-year-old actor's interaction with the future queen renewed interest in his height's rumors. There have been long talks about the use of lifts in his shoes to make himself look taller.

So, does he use one in his meeting with the Cambridges? In their snaps together, the Mission: Impossible star looked only an inch or two shorter than the female royal.

Suggest noted there was another reason for that and it had nothing to do with using lifted shoes. The trick of angles and perspective might make the Hollywood royalty look the same height as the British royal family member.

In other photographs from the event that were taken closer to the two, the height difference between them was quite obvious. So, from the right angles and distances, it just proved that someone's height could look very different on camera and in real life.

Tom Cruise probably knows this trick all too well. In fact, Daily Mail added he was often pictured at the same height as his ex-wife, Katie Holmes, who stands at 5'9" and usually wears three-inch high heels.

He also matched the height of his "Knight and Day" co-star Cameron Diaz, who is also 5'9" tall, when they were on the promotional trail for the 2010 movie, heightening the rumors more. However, Nicole Kidman's former husband has yet to comment on the issue.

Insole inserts are placed inside a shoe to lift the wearer's heels up, giving him an extra inch of height that will make him look taller. Another alternative is the elevator shoes that instantly add four inches to the wearer's size.

These shoe lifts can cost about £250, while the elevator shoes have a price tag of £50 to £100. Bespoke pairs can go as high as £1,700.
