Even though the iPhone 14 has only been out for a month, various rumors regarding the iPhone 15 have already begun to circulate.

According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, the company could call its largest and most expensive device in 2023 the iPhone 15 Ultra instead of the iPhone 15 Pro Max

The Pro Max name first came with the iPhone 11 in 2019, therefore it wouldn't be shocking to see Ultra branding added to the iPhone lineup. Apple gave the term to its M1 Ultra processor earlier this month and used it to introduce the new Watch Ultra. With the release of the iPhone 14, Apple also made a little modification to its naming convention by reintroducing the "Plus" moniker for the iPhone 14 Plus.

Apple's naming scheme can alter with the release of the iPhone next year. The iPhone 15 Ultra, as opposed to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, as you might anticipate given the company's recent track record, might be the name of its largest and most expensive gadget in 2023. The change would reportedly take place in conjunction with the biggest iPhone overhaul since Apple unveiled the iPhone 12 in 2020. Among other "bigger changes," the iPhone 15 is anticipated to have USB-C.

Over the years, Apple's smartphone line has undergone a few branding changes. Iterative models had an "S" prefix in the early days of the iPhone, when Apple delivered a substantial update every two years. The business uses the designations "Pro" and "Pro Max" to sell its most advanced phones since 2019 and the diversification of the line to include distinct mainstream and luxury models.

Additionally, Apple employed the Plus branding once again early this year after ceasing to do so in 2017. Since there is already an Ultra model in the Apple Watch lineup, dropping Pro Max in favor of Ultra would be a wise decision.

There have already been a few intriguing rumors regarding the iPhone 15. Prior to the European Union enacting legislation mandating all new cellphones made after 2024 to contain the connector, it was rumored that Apple was testing USB-C iPhones. More recently, display expert Ross Young predicted that the entire iPhone 15 series would use the Dynamic Island display cutout from the iPhone 14 Pro.

Apple may skip hosting another event this fall, at least in the near term. The business intends to introduce new Mac mini, MacBook Pro, and iPad Pro models before the year is up. The majority of those, meanwhile, will be incremental updates to already-existing devices.
