"One Punch Man" creator Yusuke Murata gave a major manga update on Twitter as the new year started. The mangaka revealed his goal for 2023 and unveiled a special sketch of the series' protagonist, Saitama, to excite fans.
Murata thanked his followers for their continuous support and greeted them with a happy new year. He also drew Saitama in a rabbit costume to celebrate 2023.
Murata adapted the manga from the original webcomic series ONE created. After officially announcing the release date for the upcoming Chapter 177, the artist revealed his goal for the new year is to "get better at drawing."
Fans may have loved how the animator gives life to Saitama's story and are impressed by his art and take on the series' characters. However, it looks like Murata himself wants to show more.
That said, fans may see a much better sketch of their favorite characters when the new chapter drops on Thursday, January 12.
So to give a glimpse of his much-improved art, Murata dropped a special drawing of Saitama's image for the new year. The illustration featured the fan-favorite character in a bunny costume to prepare the fictional superhero for the Year of the Rabbit.
The illustration showed Saitama running ahead into the new year. Of course, the new year's card illustration came with a season's greeting, hinting at how Murata planned to start the year ahead.
With his promise to improve his art and this fun illustration, it looks like he's about to begin 2023 on a high note. Well, it can't be denied that he's feeling excited after the previous year marked a major one for "One-Punch Man" on several fronts.
Its anime adaptation confirmed its upcoming season last year and is now in the works. Of course, people behind the series have hyped up the show's comeback by dropping a key visual.
Although no official details are yet to be revealed about the new season, fans have already shared their different assumptions and hopes for its return. They want the series to have a new studio after the second season's controversy, disappointing its followers for what they called "messy" animation.
Manga-wise, Murata has already finished the most intense arc yet, with Garou's action-packed storyline's conclusion after more than a year. Currently, it's featuring the Psychic Sisters Arc, and he has introduced the villainous group Tsukuyomi, which ONE didn't feature in the original webcomic.
The previous year also laid the foundation for Murata's next big story. So, fans have to wait and see what he has in store for "One Punch Man" as the series continues.
