The North London giants, Arsenal, are making significant moves this summer to bolster their squad after securing their spot in the Champions League. The Gunners have reportedly wrapped up a deal with Chelsea to secure the services of Kai Havertz, a forward who has shown his worth on the international stage as well as in the Premier League. Arsenal reached an agreement with Chelsea, worth up to £67.5 million, which includes £62.5m upfront and a potential £5m in performance-related add-ons.
Havertz, who arrived at Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 for approximately £71m, has made a notable contribution to Chelsea's success, even scoring the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City. Despite his accomplishments, he struggled to maintain consistent performances, netting 32 goals in 139 games in all competitions.
The 24-year-old German forward's departure from Chelsea reportedly stems from his reluctance to extend his contract, which is due to expire in 2025. Chelsea's new boss, Mauricio Pochettino, keen on revamping his forward line, has thus agreed to let Havertz move on1.
In addition to Havertz, Arsenal is also targeting West Ham's midfield powerhouse, Declan Rice. Aside from Rice, Arsenal's manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly eyeing Ajax's Jurriën Timber to fortify the defence. The Gunners have also shown interest in Southampton's midfielder Roméo Lavia and are currently in talks with the club and the 19-year-old's representatives.
In a bid to replace the potentially departing Rice, West Ham are considering multiple options, including Fulham's João Palhinha and Bristol City's Alex Scott.
