British journalist and acclaimed royal biographer Angela Levin has speculated that if Princess Diana were alive today, she might not have a high opinion of Meghan Markle, her daughter-in-law. Levin's remarks came during her conversation with Dan Wootton on a recent "GB News" episode.
Amidst rumors of the Sussexes planning to align their brand closer to Princess Diana's legacy, Levin expressed skepticism. "They have a tendency to change the narrative whenever they make headlines, and this seems like another diversion tactic," Levin stated. "The notion of Meghan as 'Duchess of Diana' or 'Diana 2' is absurd. It seems like a fabricated rumor. Why would they even entertain such an idea? Meghan has never met Diana and only has a superficial connection with her."
Levin, author of "Harry: Biography of a Prince," boldly suggested that the relationship between Princess Diana and Meghan Markle might not have been cordial if Diana were alive. According to Levin, Diana may have even harbored negative feelings towards Markle.
"Diana might not have found Meghan to be an agreeable person," Levin continued. "In fact, Diana might have disliked her."
On being probed further about her assertion that Diana would dislike Markle, Levin stood by her statement. "Yes, because Diana was a staunch supporter of the monarchy," Levin elaborated. "She used to frequently visit Sandringham for tea with the Queen and encouraged her sons to respect and participate in royal traditions. Harry seems to have deviated from these teachings, presumably under Meghan's influence."
Last month, Samantha Markle, Meghan's half-sister, criticized the Duke and Duchess of Sussex following a dramatic car chase incident in New York City. She compared the episode to the tragic circumstances surrounding Diana's demise, stating, "Their repeated exploitation of Diana's legacy is highly disturbing. I believe it's time they let her rest."
Meanwhile, Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, has openly backed Prince Harry in his legal battle against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) over alleged phone hacking. Spencer slammed Daily Mail columnist Amanda Platell, who suggested that Harry was obsessing over his ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy, given that her name appeared more frequently in court documents compared to Meghan's.
Spencer called out Platell's lack of credibility on Twitter, stating, "Last time I heard from you, you were guilty of libeling me, as your employer at @DailyMailUK agreed. Now you're put up (by them?) to misrepresent significant legal evidence as if it was something trivial."
