Christopher Andersen, the American journalist and renowned royal author, recently shared his insights on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to distance themselves from royal duties. This followed the termination of the Sussexes' multi-million dollar deal with Spotify.
Andersen was a guest on the "Royally Us" podcast, hosted by Christina Garibaldi and Christine Ross, where he pondered if Prince Harry might harbor regrets about leaving the royal family. This departure meant missing significant royal events, including King Charles' inaugural Trooping the Colour.
"Undeniably, there must be some level of regret," asserted Andersen, author of the book "King." "He might not be consciously grappling with these emotions, but his life was intertwined with the royal family. Trading a crucial role in an age-old, globally respected institution to become a media personality seems nonsensical."
Andersen proposed that this was not the path Princess Diana would have envisioned for her son. "On some level, he must recognize that his mother wouldn't have approved of this trajectory. She wanted him to have a significant role in the monarchy," Andersen speculated.
The same sentiment was echoed by Angela Levin, biographer of Prince Harry, during her recent interview on "GB News" with Dan Wootton. Levin expressed that Princess Diana, had she been alive, would not have been an advocate of Meghan Markle. The late Princess Diana's staunch support for the monarchy underlines this belief.
"Diana would not have approved of her," stated Levin. "Diana was a staunch supporter of the monarchy. She had a close relationship with the Queen and often emphasized to her sons the importance of preserving their royal heritage. Meghan, it seems, encouraged Harry to sever these ties."
The Sussexes and Spotify mutually terminated their contract last week, triggering rumors of a possible termination of their Netflix deal.
Andersen also touched on the topic of the Sussexes potentially becoming influencers, which would be a "significant demotion" in his opinion. Previously, royal author and commentator Kinsey Schofield hinted that Prince Harry and Markle might focus on creating digital content following the loss of their deals.
"Schofield said on 'GB News,' 'Her next move, I believe, would be transitioning into an influencer. Meghan might have to focus on creating digital content. What else is there left for her to do?'"
