In an official statement, Manchester United confirmed the departure of loaned players Marcel Sabitzer and Wout Weghorst, a move that didn't sit well with many fans. Both players, despite their brief stints, will be leaving Manchester United as Carabao Cup champions.

Wout Weghorst will be returning to Burnley, after a rather uneventful tenure at Manchester United. Despite making 31 appearances for the Red Devils, Weghorst, who was loaned in January, managed to score only two goals. His lackluster performance left fans wanting for a more prolific forward who can contribute consistently week after week.

Marcel Sabitzer, who was on loan from Bayern Munich, also did not make a significant impact during his stint. Sabitzer participated in 18 games and managed to score three goals and contributed an assist before an injury prematurely ended his season in May. Despite the lackluster performance, his return to Bayern Munich has been confirmed.

In the midst of these departures, the club is dealing with the ongoing contract negotiations with long-serving goalkeeper David De Gea. The Spaniard, who has been Man Utd's No.1 since 2011 and has made 545 appearances for the club, is due for contract renewal. The club's statement revealed, "Meanwhile, David De Gea's contract is due to run out but discussions remain open with the long-serving keeper." However, the club's lack of progress on De Gea's contract renewal has frustrated fans.

Fans took to Twitter to voice their displeasure at the club's handling of De Gea's situation, with one stating, "It's embarrassing that this hasn't been sorted out," while another called it a clear act of "disrespect".

With the departures of Sabitzer and Weghorst, the focus now shifts to whether Manchester United can secure an agreement with their first-choice keeper, David De Gea, whose contribution to the club over the past decade has been significant. The current transfer decisions have left fans apprehensive and the club will need to make some swift moves to reassure their supporters.
