Valentine Low, the royal author, alleges that an ex-aide to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who famously sparred with Prince Harry over Meghan Markle's bridal tiara, was furnished a new non-disclosure agreement by King Charles III.
Angela Kelly, known for her tussle with the Prince, had her residence at Windsor Great Park rescinded following the Queen's demise. According to Low's updated book, "Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown," the King countered Kelly's loss with a new house in the Peak District, nearly 200 miles from her previous home, contingent upon an "enhanced confidentiality agreement."
The 65-year-old Kelly shared her relocation news via an Instagram post in April, expressing joy at finally having a place she could call "My Home at last," conveniently situated close to her family.
Low, quoted by Newsweek, asserted that her fresh dwelling wasn't a no-strings-attached deal. He wrote, "Kelly's ability to publish two books about her time with the Queen, a liberty not granted to any other palace staff member, was indicative of her rapport with Her Majesty. But following his mother's death, King Charles' approach to such matters may have been less lenient."
Low questioned, "Did the home purchase require a commitment not to author any more books? According to a source, prior to her departure, Kelly signed an 'enhanced confidentiality agreement' with the palace, suggesting this could be the case."
King Charles III, according to the author, was displeased with Kelly's detailed narration about his mother in her revised book, "The Other Side Of The Coin: The Queen, The Dresser And The Wardrobe," particularly her depiction of the Queen's solitary mourning of her husband, Prince Philip, after his funeral at Westminster Abbey in April 2021.
A source, remaining anonymous, affirmed that King Charles III's priority was preserving the Queen's dignity and the integrity of the Crown. The King's commitment to safeguard his mother's legacy, according to the insider, has been unwavering.
Low's book also features another unnamed source, who stated that Kelly "wasn't universally admired." The King "wasn't eager to be her neighbor" but was also against rendering her homeless. These circumstances led to negotiations, resulting in the King buying her a house near Sheffield, England, in proximity to her grandchildren.
As of now, Buckingham Palace hasn't responded to Low's claims. And considering her alleged non-disclosure agreement, Kelly is unlikely to comment on the author's assertions.
Though Kelly was seen as Queen Elizabeth II's confidant, her relationship with Prince Harry was contentious, as revealed in his memoir, "Spare." He recounted Kelly's impediment to the hair trial with Meghan Markle's bridal tiara before their 2018 wedding - a ceremony that the Queen herself had recommended.
Prince Harry described Kelly as "obstructive" and a "troublemaker" and recounted her insistence on releasing the tiara only with "an orderly and a police escort." He claimed her rigid adherence to protocol left him "shivering," and he wished she had made their lives "easier" by allowing earlier access to the tiara.
