In the wake of David de Gea's departure from Old Trafford, Manchester United is reportedly on the brink of securing a new goalkeeper. The club's primary target is Inter Milan's Andre Onana, a player who has been making waves in the football world with his impressive performances.

Erik ten Hag, Manchester United's manager, has acknowledged the importance of securing a top-notch goalkeeper for the team. While he expressed satisfaction with the current squad, he did not dismiss the possibility of Onana's arrival. "Goalkeeper is a key position, but I am happy with the players we have now," Ten Hag told reporters in Oslo. He also mentioned that Dean Henderson, who did not make the trip to Norway, remains an option for the upcoming season.

Simone Inzaghi, Inter Milan's coach, has also commented on the situation. He confirmed that Onana is set to join the pre-season camp, but he did not rule out the possibility of the player's departure. "We know the transfer window is unpredictable and that all Italian clubs have to sell before they can buy. We know there's this risk (he goes) but at the same time, I'm calm about it all because the club and the owners have reassured me that this year we'll have a competitive Inter," Inzaghi said.

United has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Onana and is keen to expedite negotiations with Inter Milan. The club has already made two offers for the goalkeeper, the most recent one being €50 million with add-ons. However, Inter is holding out for a €60 million price tag.

Onana's potential move to Manchester United is significant, given his successful debut season at the San Siro. He helped Inter keep 19 clean sheets in 41 appearances and guided them to the Champions League final. A transfer deal worth €50-€60m is not too high considering today's inflated market.

Ten Hag and Onana have a history of successful collaboration at Ajax, which could be a positive factor in the transition. Onana, known as one of the best ball-playing shot-stoppers in the world, is expected to adapt quickly to Ten Hag's style of play.

As the Red Devils kick off their pre-season, the need for a new goalkeeper is more pressing than ever. The club must seal the deal quickly to avoid any last-minute hiccups and ensure a smooth transition into the new season. The potential addition of Onana could be a game-changer for United, enabling them to play possession-based and dominating football.
