The festival's timing is strategic, coinciding with the UN General Assembly, to maximize the potential for securing policy and financial commitments from global leaders.

This isn't BTS's first association with the Global Citizen initiative. In 2021, the entire group performed as part of Global Citizen Live. However, 2023 will mark Jungkook's solo debut at the festival, performing at the iconic Central Park in New York City. Stray Kids is the only other K-pop group in the lineup.
