The longstanding rift between Prince Harry and Prince William has been a topic of much speculation and concern for royal enthusiasts worldwide. Recent events and revelations have only intensified the divide, casting a shadow over the once-close bond shared by the two brothers.

Prince Harry, who turns 39 on September 15, is expected to receive a birthday call from his elder brother, Prince William, who celebrated his 41st birthday on June 21. Former royal butler Grant Harrold shared his insights, stating, "If they chat on WhatsApp, he might get a text, or he might get an email. I hope they do reach out. I'd like to think William would pick up the phone to wish him a happy birthday."

However, the underlying tension between the two is palpable. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan Markle, have been at the center of several controversies, most notably their December 2022 Netflix series, "Harry & Meghan." The series, followed by the release of their memoir, "Spare," in January, contained allegations that have been deeply damaging to the royal family, especially to William and his wife, Kate, Princess of Wales. Harrold commented on the situation, saying, "I think the damage has already been done now, and I think at this moment in time, I don't see it dramatically changing."

The Duke of Sussex's upcoming birthday is also drawing attention. While there has been no mention of Harry's birthday by the Montecito royals, there's an expectation of radio silence from the royal family, similar to the lack of acknowledgment during Meghan's and their children's recent birthdays. Harrold, now an author, observed, "It's a bit weird. Even though they're not working royals anymore, they would always have mentions on social media, and suddenly it's come to a stop. It could be similar for Harry's birthday too."

On the professional front, Harry is expected to be in Dusseldorf, Germany, for the Invictus Games, which run from September 9-17. Meghan is also slated to join him and is reportedly set to make a special presentation at the closing ceremony on September 17.

Despite the professional commitments and public appearances, the emotional distance between the brothers is evident. Harrold concluded, "Family has always been a big thing to Harry. William and Kate are also in Balmoral with Charles now, and Harry used to be going up there every summer. So that will be playing a big part in what he's thinking. He will be missing out on that."

As the world watches, the hope remains that the two brothers, once inseparable, can find a way to bridge the widening gap and restore the bond that has been a cornerstone of their lives.
