The girl group FIFTY FIFTY, currently in a contract dispute, has taken a shot at their agency Attrakt by releasing their medical diagnoses.
On the afternoon of October 13, FIFTY FIFTY members (Aran, Saena, Sio, Keena) posted a lengthy message on their SNS, stating, "We muster the courage to reveal our pain."
Along with their message, "How much more pain do we need to endure to receive proper management?", the members listed incidents from their trainee days and active periods, revealing medical opinions and diagnoses.
According to the members of FIFTY FIFTY, they endured by sheer will, even visiting the emergency room frequently. They claimed that their songs 'Lovin Me', 'Tell Me', 'Higher', and 'Log-in' involved members who had fainted due to panic disorders and had to be revived with oxygen masks. Additionally, 'Cupid' was completed by a member who postponed surgery for chronic inflammation and endured with painkillers.
Each member then detailed their health issues in writing. Sio revealed she was diagnosed with panic disorder and social phobia, saying even going outside required courage. She mentioned fainting due to low oxygen saturation and being taken by ambulance, but the company offered no support or consolation. She also added that extreme diets, like fasting from their debut, caused kidney issues, and despite a doctor's recommendation for a healthy diet, the company still forced them to diet.
Saena shared, "Due to dieting, I developed an obsession and experienced hair loss from internal stress. Without medication, I don't menstruate," revealing hormonal changes and alternating between starving and binge eating.
Aran disclosed that she had her gallbladder removed at 18 and didn't undergo surgery earlier due to comeback schedules. She said, "Not a day went by without pain. I endured months with painkillers, spent nights in agony, and even with digestive problems, whether I ate or not, I suffered from bloating and pain." She also claimed that the company still made her undergo weight checks during this period.
The members expressed, "We wanted protection too," and cited Article 10 of the Constitution, which states, 'All citizens shall have the dignity and worth as humans and the right to pursue happiness.'
Meanwhile, the conflict between FIFTY FIFTY and Attrakt has been ongoing for a long time.
All four members of FIFTY FIFTY filed for an injunction to suspend the effects of their exclusive contract with the agency, but the court dismissed it. FIFTY FIFTY immediately appealed the decision.
