The fate of BLACKPINK's re-signing has been shrouded in mystery since their exclusive contract ended last August, and remains undecided as of November. Amidst this uncertainty, news of member Rosé's solo Season's Greetings sale has refocused attention on the group's contract renewal status.
YG Entertainment announced on the 3rd the pre-sale of Rosé's 2024 Season's Greetings (Season's Greetings: From HANK & ROSé To You [2024]).
According to the agency, this Season's Greetings is planned with a 'Magical Christmas Vacation' concept, inspired by Rosé's desire to gift BLINKs (the fandom name) a happy Christmas. It features both Rosé and her pet dog Hank.
BLACKPINK, which Rosé is a part of, recently concluded their 'K-pop girl group's largest scale' world tour, 'BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK]', attracting an audience of over 1.8 million. As a 'world-class' girl group, the re-signing has drawn global attention from K-pop fans.
However, even long after the contract expiration, there has been no announcement about their re-signing with YG. The sale of individual member merchandise amidst this has sparked renewed speculation about a re-signing.
Furthermore, there was speculation in September that Rosé was the only member to have re-signed with YG. YG refuted this by stating they were "in discussions".
Last month, Rosé was also spotted in a meeting with Ron Perry, the chairman of the major American record label Columbia Records, which has fueled speculations about her potential international ventures.
The situation of BLACKPINK's re-signing remains as unclear as ever. While rumors of Lisa turning down an offer of a 50 billion won signing bonus and speculations of Jisoo and Jennie setting up their own agencies circulate, the agency maintains its position that discussions are ongoing.
