BTS's V has garnered high praise from Japanese media for his earnest approach to music and his kind-hearted nature. As part of the promotions for his solo album "Layover," V appeared on Japan's renowned live music platform "The First Take," where he performed a piano version of the title track "Slow Dancing" live.
"The First Take" is known for its one-take format, shot without any second chances. The setup is simple: one microphone, a white studio, and the rule of a single take, focusing purely on the artist's vocals to capture a raw and vivid live performance.
"The First Times," a media outlet that observed V's live performance, published an article highlighting V's character with a detailed eye. The publication described V's manner of checking with the band as "courteous" and shared their impressions saying, "V sings as if he cherishes every phrase, immersing himself into the world of the song even during practice, as if it were a real performance."
It was added, "Such serious practice accumulates to move people's hearts with his singing." They also mentioned, "When V expresses his opinions, he does so softly and positively, letting his gentle nature shine through. His smile is peaceful and unpretentious," not sparing any compliments.
Furthermore, they noted, "His interaction with the band members and dancers feels natural, pleasing to anyone who watches." BTS leader RM has commented on V's warm personality, saying, "Taehyung is good-looking and kind, so everyone treats him well."
V's gentle and affectionate nature and his sincere attitude toward people have also been confirmed through remarks by the band and dance team members who joined him for the "Layover" album activities. Ian Anderson, a backup vocalist for the band, expressed his gratitude on Instagram, thanking V for "being a genuine soul."
Dancer Kim Jinju, who participated in the "Layover" dance team, fondly recalled their time together, calling the team a "happy family." Jae Young Choi, the director of photography for the "Layover" music video, from Jae Young Films, confessed he became a fan due to V's unique kindness intertwined with a playful spirit.
