In a recent interview with People magazine, royal author Omid Scobie revealed intriguing details about the relationship between Meghan Markle and the British royal family, particularly her ongoing communication with King Charles III.

These insights come ahead of the release of his new book "Endgame," scheduled for November 28. Scobie, who previously co-authored the book "Finding Freedom" about the Sussexes, discussed the evolving dynamics within the royal family, focusing on Meghan Markle's current stance and interactions.

According to Scobie, despite Meghan's apparent decision to distance herself from the royal family, she maintains a correspondence with King Charles III, particularly concerning her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. "She doesn't want anything to do with it," Scobie quoted sources close to Meghan, indicating her desire to move on from royal life. However, Scobie was "surprised to learn" that Meghan still shares updates about her children with the King. This includes sending photos of Archie and Lilibet, albeit not directly, signifying a "willingness" to keep some lines of communication open.

Regarding Prince Harry's relationship with his father, Scobie noted a sense of "reluctant acceptance" from Harry about the nature of his relationship with King Charles III. "He would rather have that in his life than to cut it off completely," Scobie remarked, highlighting that Harry often initiates conversations with his father.

The author also touched upon Prince Harry's ongoing challenges with the press, suggesting that the Duke of Sussex is still grappling with "unfinished business" in this area. Scobie emphasized Harry's need to find a balance that allows him to work independently of his past ties and issues.

Meghan Markle's last visit to the U.K. was in September 2022, when she attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Since the funeral, Meghan has not returned to the U.K., whereas Prince Harry has made several trips, including attending his father's coronation in May and the WellChild Awards in September.

The revelations from Scobie's interview follow reports from royal correspondent Victoria Ward about a recent phone call between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and King Charles III on the King's birthday. During this call, their children, Archie and Lilibet, reportedly sent a video singing "Happy Birthday" to their grandfather. Ward suggested that this interaction marked a "notable shift in tone" and could potentially open the door to reconciliation within the family.
