Jungkook of BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) has etched his name once again in the Guinness World Records. According to an announcement on the official Guinness World Records website, Jungkook has set a new world record for having the most number one hit songs (3 songs) on the IFPI's (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) official 'MENA' chart.
This achievement marks Jungkook's fifth individual entry into the Guinness World Records, further solidifying his global influence and impact.
As of December 7, 2023, Guinness noted that Jungkook's solo single 'Seven', '3D', and the title track 'Standing Next to You' from his solo album 'GOLDEN', each held the top spot on the 'MENA' chart for a total of two weeks in 2023.
The 'MENA' chart is the first official chart for the Middle East and North Africa, aggregating streaming data from Anghami, Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify, and YouTube Music.
Previously, Jungkook had set four Guinness World Records with his solo work, including the fastest time to reach one billion streams on Spotify for 'Seven', the most weekly streams (89,748,171) for a male artist track on the Spotify Global chart, and the fastest to achieve 100 million streams. 'Seven' also competed against top tracks from major artists in Spotify's 'Top Track of 2023' chart, ranking fourth and showcasing its status as a global megahit song. Additionally, 'Seven' dominated Spotify's 'Daily Top Song Global' chart as the first Asian artist song to hold the top spot for a total of 71 days and achieved a record-breaking nine-week run at number one on the 'Weekly Top Song Global' chart in 2023.
Furthermore, Jungkook has had an outstanding year in major music charts, debuting at number one with 'Seven' and number five with both '3D' and 'Standing Next to You' on the US Billboard Hot 100. He also debuted at number three, five, and six, respectively, on the UK Official Singles Chart, marking a golden career high.
Jungkook and 'Seven' were named in Billboard's 'Greatest Pop Stars of 2023: Introduction & Honorable Mentions (Staff List)' and 'The 100 Best Songs of 2023: Staff Picks'. He also won 'Global Song of the Summer for 2023' and was honored with the 'Top Global K-Pop Song' award at the '2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs)'.
Additionally, Jungkook was the first Korean solo artist to win the 'Song of Summer' category at the '2023 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA)' and claimed two awards, 'Best Song' and 'Best K-Pop', at the '2023 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA)'.
