G-Dragon (real name Kwon Ji-yong), who recently cleared himself of drug use allegations, is set for a fresh start. After spending over 20 years with YG Entertainment, he plans to turn the suspicion of drug use into an opportunity for change. He intends to establish a foundation dedicated to drug eradication and engage in public service activities, while also planning a comeback as an artist.

A press conference was held on the 21st at the JW Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom in Seocho-gu, Seoul, with Galaxy Corporation, with whom G-Dragon signed an exclusive contract. Galaxy's director, Jo Seong-hae, and director Oh Hee-young were present to announce G-Dragon's position regarding the drug investigation conclusion, future activities, and a handwritten letter from G-Dragon. G-Dragon was not present due to schedule conflicts.

As an Artist, Shaking off the 'Drug' Label:

Director Jo Seong-hae strongly urged that G-Dragon no longer be tagged with the 'drug' label through a statement regarding the conclusion of the drug investigation. Jo emphasized, "Justice prevails in the end. The police have officially concluded their investigation into Kwon Ji-yong's drug case, finding him ultimately innocent and deciding not to prosecute. We officially state that Kwon Ji-yong has no involvement or allegations related to any entertainment industry drug incidents."

He further noted, "Kwon Ji-yong has had a tough time due to rampant speculation and distorted rumors. We request that, following this official statement and coverage, there be no further associated reports, allowing the innocent individual to return to everyday life and come back as an artist."

Despite voluntary cooperation and diligent response to investigations, G-Dragon was plagued by various rumors, including those about full-body hair removal and bleaching. Jo explained, "Unfounded suspicions have caused immense damage to Kwon Ji-yong's social reputation, future activities, and mental health. Even though the investigation has concluded, he continues to suffer due to relentless online abuse. This is a crime against an innocent person's dignity."

"Realizing the Severity of Drugs... Will Establish a Foundation":

In a letter presented at the event, G-Dragon expressed, "Through this incident, I've seen things I haven't before. Learning about the alarming rate of drug offenders and the lack of available treatment, I've realized I must take action. I want to actively work towards drug eradication and prevention for those vulnerable and unaware individuals."

He continued, "I aim to share opportunities with many who lack access to treatment and stand by those who are wronged and vulnerable, as a brother, friend, or colleague. To sincerely and continuously engage in this work, I've decided to establish a foundation."

G-Dragon plans to join forces with his global fans, fellow artists, and juniors to devote himself to public service activities. "Through the foundation, we aim to create a society where everyone is treated equally and fairly, free from prejudice and injustice. As an artist, G-Dragon, I, along with fans and artists who enjoy my music and art, will address social issues like drugs, inequality, and injustice, and support artists without opportunities."

Leaving YG to Join Hands with Galaxy... Anticipating Partnership:

G-Dragon has left YG Entertainment, the agency that discovered him, to join hands with Galaxy Corporation. Jo announced, "Galaxy Corporation and artist G-Dragon have signed an exclusive contract. We aim to venture into unprecedented challenges, not just as a typical agency-artist relationship but as partners."

Jo also expressed gratitude to YG Entertainment and assured that Galaxy would continue the legacy and honor built by YG and G-Dragon. In his letter, G-Dragon credited YG Entertainment for making him who he is today and vowed to carry the experiences and achievements from his 20-year journey with YG in his heart.

Embarking on 'Busy 2024'... New Year's Press Conference Planned:

After a turbulent time dealing with drug allegations, G-Dragon aims to put all suspicions to rest with today's press conference and start anew in the upcoming year. A New Year's press conference with G-Dragon's direct attendance is also planned. Jo stated, "G-Dragon eagerly anticipates communicating and sharing with the public and fans. Please be patient."

He concluded, "In 2024, G-Dragon will make a comeback. We, Galaxy and G-Dragon, embark on this journey as partners. We ask for your enthusiastic support and interest."
