Years after their divorce, Gavin Rossdale appears to be grappling with lingering emotions, reportedly causing tension with ex-wife Gwen Stefani amidst her current relationship struggles.

“Gavin is still stewing over the breakup, so he likes to stir the pot whenever he can,” an unnamed source told Star Magazine.

“He heard that Gwen and Blake are going through a tough time right now, so he’s using it as an opportunity to push Gwen’s buttons when he sees her. Gwen doesn’t even like doing the kids handoff with him, because Gavin will say something obnoxious or act weird. That’s why Blake tags along sometimes, because Gwen doesn’t feel comfortable going alone,” it continued.

The same insider claimed that Gavin never intended to end his marriage to Gwen. However, the "Hollaback Girl" singer reportedly wanted out, and her ex-husband couldn't get over it.

Fortunately, the ex-couple's three children—Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo—are not suffering. Gavin and Gwen always prioritize them and conceal any tension when they are present. To keep the kids, the former couple would never speak negatively about each other.

Gwen reportedly wants to keep things as harmonious as possible, but Gavin sometimes makes it difficult. On March 4, Star Magazine spoke with Gavin at Desert Smash, an event produced by Brand Innovators at La Quinta Resort and Club, and he allegedly avoided discussing Gwen.

During the March 21 episode of the “Amy and T.J.” podcast, Gavin opened up about the aftermath of his divorce from Gwen. "The biggest thing would be when you see the kids that sometimes there's a loss. It'd be nice if there was sort of more of a connection with the person who made them with me,” he said.

The British musician also shared that “the overriding thing” is how he feels “bad” for his kids about the split. Gavin, who said both his parents had been married three times, admitted that it "wasn't fun" for him to come from a "broken home."

While admitting that he "never thought" he would get divorced, Gavin stated that he doesn't "live in regret," but wishes he "could have figured out a way to not have that" in his kids' lives. “It can be quite debilitating for kids. The overriding thing is you don't want to let your kids down,” the “Glycerine” hitmaker added.

Despite what he described as a "very contentious, hugely emotional, flared-up situation," Rossdale said he makes a deliberate effort not to speak negatively about his former wife. "Less said, soonest mended and I said nothing. It’s not my place to say anything. I'm handcuffed because I would never want to overly say anything negative about their mom. That's just not right,” he said.

Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani got married in September 2002. They welcomed sons Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo in 2006, 2008, and 2014, respectively. After 13 years of marriage, Gwen filed for divorce from Gavin in 2015.
