Amidst his relationships with Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck's body language reportedly tells a complex tale.
“He seems so relaxed and, well, happy when he’s with Jen, but with J.Lo, he seems tense, even angry at times. Ben put Jen through hell when they were together, but they’ve worked past all of that. There’s been a lot of healing and they be closer now—as friends—than they were when they were a couple,” an unnamed source told Star Magazine.
The insider added that being married to Jennifer Lopez is difficult, especially since she can reportedly be very intense, and Ben gets caught up in that. “He can get a little on edge,” the informant continued.
Star went on to body language expert Patti Wood to decode Ben Affleck’s complicated relationships with Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner. The author of "Snap: Making the Most of First Impressions, Body Language & Charisma" noticed that the "Batman" actor and his ex-wife are “playful” around each other.
“This a playful. The arm on her shoulder is almost ‘now, now, now come on.’ It’s an interaction that’s almost like he said something funny or absurd, and she’s going, ‘Oh, my God, I can’t believe you said that,” Patti said, referring to a snap of Ben and Jennifer Garner kidding around.
“Their feet are pointed toward each other, their pelvises are pointed to each other, their bellies are pointed to each other, so that tells me they’re grounded together. Even their hearts are centered and pointed toward each other,” the body language expert added.
“What I truly like is she’s truly happy. She has that great open mouth, front upper teeth fully exposed, and you can see what I call ‘a smile crushed eyes.’ I also like that his body lean is toward her. That tells me they’re sharing a laugh. He’s got a grin. He’s getting a little secret pleasure from the moment,” Patti further stated of Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck.
Meanwhile, the body language expert compared Ben’s actions whenever he was with Jennifer Lopez. “He appears slightly worried, and you can see the worry from the indent in the middle of his brows, his raised eyes, and the tenseness around his mouth. She’s fine. Her head is forward and she’s got her body forward,” she opined.
In a photo of Ben and J.Lo during an outing, Patti noticed that Ben is “trying to hold in his emotions, but the predominant emotion is sadness, and you can tell that because his gaze is directed downward – that’s No. 1 for sadness – and his mouth is opened in anguish. It’s like, ‘ugh.’”
“He’s showing worry, fear, surprise and sadness,” Patti stated of a heated scene between Ben and Jennifer Lopez at the L.A. premiere of “The Mother” in 2023. “His forehead is raisedm his jaw drops open, so that’s surprise and a little bit of fear. The finger up and pointed is expressive of the message, ‘Hold on a minute.’ She’s just done and said something, and he’s going, ‘What?’ He’s in a very vulnerable and emotional state,” she went on.
Jennifer Garner's romance with boyfriend John Miller is still going strong, as is John's relationship with Jennifer's ex-husband, Ben Affleck. “Ben is super down-to-earth, and so is John,” an insider exclusively told Us Weekly. “They have a mutual respect for each other and are always very friendly with one another.”
To recall, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, both 51, ended their 10-year marriage in 2015. The “Gone Girl” actor later married Jennifer Lopez in July 2022. Garner has been dating John Miller since 2018.
As the group has worked together to blend their families, Ben and John have developed "a lot of mutual admiration and respect," according to a second source. J.Lo and Jennifer, meanwhile, have developed their own friendship since the “Papi” songstress rekindled her romance with Ben in 2021.
“Over the past year or two, they’ve definitely become close and have gotten to know each other much better. Both of them are incredible mothers and always put their children’s needs first,” another tipster told the entertainment news outlet.
