Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is unlikely to bring her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the United Kingdom despite King Charles's reported plea for a family reunion, according to royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths. The King is believed to be "desperate" to see his grandchildren, but the strained relationship between the Sussexes and the Royal Family may hinder any potential reconciliation.

Speaking on TalkTV, Griffiths expressed her doubts about Meghan accepting the King's invitation to spend the summer at Balmoral, the royal family's Scottish estate. "Even if Harry comes, I can't imagine a world in which Meghan comes over with the kids, it's really sad," she said, adding that there is "no way" Meghan will be interested in the "rural royal life" and the "cold two bar radiators and the boot rooms."

The royal commentator's remarks come amid reports that King Charles has extended an olive branch to the Sussexes, hoping to mend the fractured relationships within the family. An insider told Page Six, "I can see Charles desperately wanting to see the children, and extending this olive branch to Meghan and Harry. He may decide that life is just too short. Balmoral is truly the perfect, restful place for a reunion. If he does issue an invite, then Harry and Meghan should surely agree to the visit."

However, Meghan's decision to snub King Charles's Coronation in May 2023 may be a reflection of her dissatisfaction with the Royal Family's response to her allegations made during the explosive Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021. According to reports from The Mirror, Meghan wrote to Charles, then the Prince of Wales, revealing the identity of the individual who allegedly raised concerns about the skin color of the Sussexes' baby. The Duchess was reportedly "not satisfied" with the reply, which contributed to her decision not to attend the Coronation.

The Royal Family did not acknowledge the allegations publicly, but during an outing, Prince William firmly responded to a reporter's question about whether the Royal Family was racist, stating, "We are not a racist family."

Since stepping down as senior working royals in 2020 and settling in Montecito, California, Harry and Meghan have only returned to the UK for select events. Archie and Lilibet have made the trip just once, for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, while Meghan hasn't returned to the UK since the Queen's funeral in September 2022.

While a holiday to Balmoral might be off the cards, it's believed that Prince Harry will return to the UK next month to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. Harry is scheduled to speak at a special service at St Paul's Cathedral in London on May 8. There is speculation that Meghan may join him for this event, but her attendance is marked as "TBC" [to be confirmed] on the guest list.

Royal expert Angela Levin has warned Harry that, by bringing his wife, he may risk Meghan "stealing the spotlight" away from himself and the milestone event. Levin told GB News, "Meghan, 42, has not stepped foot on UK soil since 2022 and has made no attempts to carry out any visit to Harry's home country since."
