Ben Affleck has been by Jennifer Garner’s side as she grieves the shocking death of her dad. William Garner died peacefully at 85, surrounded by his brood on March 30.
While Jennifer claimed there was “no tragedy” in his death since he lived a “healthy, wonderful life,” the “Daredevil” star is still mourning the loss. An insider claimed Ben has been “actively involved” and “supportive across the board” to his former life partner, who were married from 2005 until 2018 and share three kids – Samuel, Serafina and Violet.
"He has been checking in on her and making sure she knows he is there for her since her dad's passing. It was the kids' grandfather and Ben and him always got along. He considered him family and always will,” an unnamed source told OK! Magazine.
The entertainment news outlet previously reported that Jennifer took to Instagram on April 1 to pen a heartfelt tribute to her father’s long and love-filled life. "We were with him, singing Amazing Grace as he left us (did we carry him across or scare him away— valid question). I know grief is unavoidable, waiting around unexpected corners. Today is for gratitude,” the “13 Going On 30” star penned in a post.
"We are grateful for Dad’s gentle demeanor and quiet strength. For how he teased with a mischievous smile, and for the way he invented the role of all in, ever patient girl dad,” Jennifer continued.
"There is so much to say about my dad — my sisters and I will never be done talking about how wonderful he was, so bear with us," she noted. "But for today I share these memories with my appreciation for the kind and brilliant man, father, and grandfather he was, as well as the loving legacy he left behind,” she concluded.
Ben and Jennifer have come a long way with their relationship following their divorce.
"Ben put Jen through h--- when they were together, but they’ve worked past all of that. There’s been a lot of healing, and they may be closer now — as friends — than they were when they were a couple,” a tipster told Entertainment Tonight.
"They communicate rather frequently when it comes to their kids, scheduling plans, etc. They know the ones who benefit the most are the children and that’s all they care about. They have a mutual respect for each other as parents and know how well all their kids get along. They want to foster and nurture those relationships and will do whatever it takes to show their support,” the source continued.
"Anything that’s happened in the past is water under the bridge. It’s genuinely a copacetic situation all around,” it went on.
Meanwhile, Business Times previously reported that the marriage of Ben and his present wife, Jennifer Lopez, is currently under pressure with the actor filming the sequel of “The Accountant” movie in Los Angeles and the “Papi” hitmaker pursuing her own career in New York City.
While Ben is happy to be very busy, sources suggested that his ladylove has become increasingly needy. Now, close pals of the couple claimed the cracks are showing.
“This is the first long stretch they’ve spent apart in a while. And they’re both dealing with it in different ways,” the mole claimed. “The honeymoon is definitely over. The feeling is if they want to stay married, they both need to make some adjustments in their behavior,” it went on.
Business Times has reached out to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez to address these supposed marital issues.
