Princess Kate and Prince William released a photo of their youngest son, Prince Louis, on April 23 to celebrate his sixth birthday. The snap was believed to be taken on the grounds of Windsor Castle that the cancer-stricken princess herself took.

Most, if not all, royal followers are aware that Princess Kate has been following this custom since Prince George, who is now 10, was a baby. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, the Princess of Wales revealed in late March that she had been diagnosed with cancer following a planned abdominal surgery in January. The mother of three and her husband, Prince William, 41, are doing their best to keep Louis, George, and Princess Charlotte, 8, stable.

“Even though Kate’s been ill, she and William want to continue doing what they’ve always done. She wants to reassure everyone that she’s doing better and is going to be OK,” an unnamed palace insider told Star Magazine, noting that Princess Kate encouraged Prince William’s recent return to royal duties.

Princess Kate has reportedly made progress since he cancer diagnosis announcement earlier this year. “The first two months were the hardest, and Kate and William felt the most challenged during that time, but she’s doing better and getting around more,” the source stated.

It is also reported that Princess Kate and Prince William are keeping things as normal as possible. “Kate’s been in the kitchen preparing some meals, and they eat together as a family most days. Routine is very important to William and Kate,” the informant shared, noting that it’s business as usual with schoolwork and sports.

Prince Louis’ birthday celebration was a special one. “It fell on a school day, but Kate and William planned a small party for him at home. Kate let Louis pick what he wanted for dinner and made a special cake,” the tipster said.

Princess Kate revealed in 2019 that she loves baking for the birthday of her kids. “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ’til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing, and I make far too much,” the mom-of-three revealed on A Berry Royal Christmas.

An insider claimed Princess Kate encouraged Prince William to return to work. He resumed his royal responsibilities on April 18 and attended a memorial service for WWII veteran Major Mike Sadler at Hereford Cathedral the next day.

“William would have liked to stay home longer, but Kate insisted he return to work. She said it was important that he do so,” a snitch suggested.

The royals have struggled without Princess Kate and her father-in-law, King Charles III, since the 75-year-old monarch announced his own cancer diagnosis on February 5. According to one insider, the monarch has been a crucial source of support for Kate.

“Charles visited her in the hospital, they were both there for separate surgeries. They’ve grown closer these past few months,” it stated.

On April 23, King Charles announced many new royal titles, including Princess Kate's appointment as the Royal Companion of the Order of the Companions of Honor, as per PEOPLE. The title is historically significant since Princess Kate is the first member of the royal family to wear it. "She's incredibly touched by the king's gesture," the source revealed.

Princess Kate allegedly hopes to put it in action soon. “Kate wants to get back to work and she’s looking forward to that day,” the informant said, adding that neither Princess Kate nor Prince William have “given any indication of when that might be” just yet. “They clearly don’t want to make any promises. They’re taking it day by day,” it concluded.
