Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's marriage of over three years has not been without challenges. The pair's new song, "Purple Irises," has special meaning for them.

“[It] comes from the idea that when you plant something, you are planting hope and watching love grow, weathering all the different seasons of growth. We are in this together, we planted the seeds together, and we are growing together,” the “Hollaback Girl” hitmaker said.

However, Gwen, 54, and Blake, 47, did begin to drift apart at one point.

“A lot of their friends were really worried it would end in divorce. They’d been fighting a lot, and their schedules have been challenging for them. Gwen and Blake felt they had fallen out of love,” an unnamed source told Life & Style Magazine.

According to the insider, it took effort and sacrifice, but the pair eventually reconciled. “They prioritized spending time with one another and got back to doing the things that brought them together in the first place, like making music,” it stated.

Come July, Gwen and Blake will celebrate their third wedding anniversary. “Gwen and Blake have had their ups and downs. While it hasn’t always been a bed of roses, they like to think they made it to the other side,” the informant went on.

Meanwhile, PEOPLE reported that Blake claimed he doesn't have to recognize his wife, Gwen Stefani, on Mother's Day, but there's a sweet reason why.

On May 10, Blake attended Keep Memory Alive's 27th Annual Power of Love Gala in Las Vegas, and when asked how he planned to spoil Gwen on Mother's Day, he revealed that her sons Kingston, 17, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 10 — whom Gwen shares with ex Gavin Rossdale — have it covered.

"You know what? I don't have to, because her sons have been incredible," Blake shared, adding that he had previously reminded the three boys about the significance of the day, but they always have plans.

"They're like, no, no, no. We've already thought about it. We're going to make breakfast for her. I always can kind of just take a back seat and watch these boys. They do an incredible job spoiling her," the former husband of Miranda Lambert added.

While Gwen was spoiled on Sunday, Friday was Blake’s night, as he was acknowledged for his long-standing dedication to brain health. Still, the “God Gave Me You” crooner couldn't help but praise his wife for being there to support him after performing in the Bahamas the night before.

"She's amazing. She's super woman. We're just now calming down and settling in and taking this thing in. So I'm excited. I really am excited,” Blake stated before entering the banquet, where things were auctioned off for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“This is the fanciest thing I've ever been to in my life, period," he added jokingly.
