At this point, six years after the royal and his daughter tied the knot, Meghan Markle's estranged father is still perplexed by the fact that he has not yet had the opportunity to meet his son-in-law, Prince Harry.

Just before his 80th birthday in July, Thomas Markle Sr. gave an interview to the Daily Mail in which he discussed his icy relationship with his daughter and her husband. The conversation was conducted in advance of his birthday.

According to the outlet, the former Hollywood lighting designer, who has not been on speaking terms with Meghan and Prince Harry since their wedding in 2018, expressed his confusion regarding the reason why the Duke of Sussex supposedly has never come to meet him since he began dating his daughter in 2016.

"When I reflect back on my life, as you do when you are approaching 80, that's one of the questions I cannot find an answer for. Why didn't Harry ever come to meet me?" Thomas, who lives in Rosarito, Mexico, said.

"[Harry] has the resources to fly around the world—and does—but why didn't he come to see me, particularly when people in the royal household like Jason Knauf [Harry and Meghan's former communications secretary] were urging him to do so? That has never made sense to me. What man gets married without meeting his wife's father?" he furthered.

Since Thomas was allegedly caught fabricating paparazzi images right before Meghan's royal wedding, the relationship between Meghan and her father has become more strained. With the excuse that he had been hospitalized due to what was believed to be a heart attack, Thomas, who was meant to be the one to accompany his daughter down the aisle at the wedding, decided to withdraw from the event a few days before the ceremony.

While Meghan was getting married at St. George's Chapel, Prince Harry's father, King Charles, ended up walking her down the aisle. The former "Suits" actress stated that she felt deceived and suggested that she has difficult to forgive Thomas after he allegedly lied to her about going to the British press during the sit-down that the Sussexes had with Oprah Winfrey in 2021.

"I look at Archie, I think about this child and I genuinely can't imagine doing anything to intentionally cause pain to my child. I can't imagine it, so it's hard for me to reconcile that,” Meghan stated.

Thomas has been known to attack Meghan and Prince Harry in interviews on multiple occasions over the course of his career. In a documentary that will be released in 2020, Thomas even accused them of "destroying" the royal family. However, in an interview with 7News Spotlight in 2023, he openly pleaded with his daughter and son-in-law to make amends with them after he had suffered a devastating stroke.

Thomas stated that he has not yet spoken to Meghan and Prince Harry, nor has he met his grandkids, Prince Archie, who is five years old, and Princess Lilibet, who is three years old. This took place more than a year ago.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Thomas expressed his desire to meet his grandkids and hear from Meghan and Prince Harry on his 80th birthday, which is on July 18. He also expressed his optimism that he will be able to visit them. However, Thomas continued by saying that he would be "happy" to obtain even a single photograph at this time.

"I don't expect to hear from Meghan and Harry. I wish we could have worked this situation out. I was always ready and willing to do that,” Thomas shared.

Prince Harry and Meghan have not publicly addressed Thomas' latest comments about them as of this writing.
