As her estranged father continues to struggle with major health issues, Britney Spears is experiencing conflicting emotions. Jamie, who is 72 years old, has been dealing with intestinal troubles, kidney problems, and he recently had one of his legs amputated as a result of a life-threatening infection.
"She’s sad for him but it’s not that simple to just forgive and forget the way he destroyed her life. It’s an extremely complicated and painful situation,” an unnamed source told In Touch Weekly.
As per the anonymous insider, the situation became even more distressing for the Princess of Pop, who is 42 years old, when her distant sons, Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden, 17, decided to pursue a relationship with their grandfather. This was in spite of a previous altercation that resulted in Jamie being prohibited from seeing the boys for a number of years.
"It hurts that her dad is somehow more important to them than she is. It’s a kick in the teeth,” the undisclosed informant further told the entertainment news outlet.
On August 24, 2019, the 72-year-old allegedly smashed down a door, seized Sean Preston, and allegedly "shook him,” as previously reported by OK! Magazine. Despite the fact that he did not appear to be hurt as a result of the altercation, Jamie did not put up a fight when their father, Kevin Federline, attempted to get a restraining order issued against him.
"It was not Kevin’s desire to see Jamie Spears be prosecuted. The police report that he initiated was only for the purpose of obtaining protection orders for the children and those remain in place,” a statement read at the time.
Five years later, Kevin's longtime attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, revealed that both sons "miss their grandfather" and have made the decision to forgive him for the incident. In addition, Jayden showed his compassion for his grandfather during an interview that was shown on "60 Minutes Australia" in the year 2022. He also insisted that he felt Jamie still "cares about" the "Toxic" singer until that day.
"He was trying to be like any father, like pursue his daughter's dream of being a superstar, working and doing all these concerts and performing," he said at the time. In addition, Jayden expressed his affection for his grandmother, Lynne, as well as his uncle, Bryan.
"They are not bad people! They know what we are going through now. They want our future to be what we want it to be. They just want to watch over us,” Jayden went on.
