Due to the fact that the cover art for the ex-FLOTUS’ forthcoming biography is very similar to the cover art of another book, Melania Trump has garnered a lot of criticism.
The former first lady's tell-all displays only her first name, Melania, in white text on an all-black background. This design is strikingly similar to the book Chanel Catwalk, which will be published in 2020 by the French author Patrick Mauriès. Chanel Catwalk is a compilation of every collection for the brand that was created by the late fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, according to a The Daily Beast report.
“If you love our former first lady as much as me, and are ready for the Truth, buy her new book now! MELANIA provides an insightful perspective of her tenure as First Lady of the United States, highlighting our shared experiences, her entrepreneurial achievements, plus the challenges and triumphs she experienced since her childhood in Europe,” former president Donald Trump wrote over the weekend.
This brought to mind the criticism that Melania allegedly plagiarized extensive portions of her speech that she delivered in 2016 at the Republican National Convention from an address that Michelle Obama had given at an earlier Democratic National Convention. However, many other people noticed how closely the cover resembled the other book that Melania, who is very fashion-conscious, most likely has seen or heard about.
"If you were wondering who Melania's book was going to copy from, here you go. She's decided to rip-off Chanel," X user Sarah Glazer penned on X.
"Imagine that the lady who was furious she didn't get a Vogue cover as First Lady has a memoir with no photo of her on the cover like in every other memoir in history. It's a low-budget right-wing publisher, but still -- couldn't Trump have sprung for a photo cover for his 3rd wife?" journalist Victoria Brownworth added.
Other people who frequent social media observed that the promotional graphics for the book were similar to the cover of "A Book About Absolutely Nothing," which is a novelty book that is notorious for having pages that are blank.
"Did you ever see the blank book with the title A Book About Absolutely Nothing? Did it inspire Melania’s book cover artist? You be the judge. This is the cover of the blank book,” the X account Common Sense stated.
