Before Alison Carey passed away, the legal dispute that had been going on between Mariah Carey and her sister had not yet been resolved, a new report claimed.

In accordance with the court records that were obtained by In Touch Weekly, the case that Alison filed in 2021 never progressed farther than the initial filing stage. Alison made the accusation in the case that Mariah intentionally caused her mental anguish by making claims that were included in the singer's memoir, "The Meaning of Mariah Carey," which is scheduled to be published in 2020.

Alison expressed her disagreement with a number of claims that Mariah offered, all of which she claimed were untrue. She referred to a section in which the singer stated that her sister, who was 20 years old at the time, had given her a Valium, attempted to prostitute her out, and thrown a cup of boiling hot tea on her, leading her to suffer third-degree burns. The statement was made by Alison, who stated that Mariah "also dismisses [her] as a 'ex' sister."

In her filing, she stated, "But instead of saying no more about her, Mariah used her book to humiliate and embarrass" her. This was due to the fact that reports about the memoir were published in newspapers all over the world, broadcast on television, and distributed throughout the internet. In her statement, she stated that the charges were widely disseminated across the internet, with headlines reiterating Mariah's allegations.

"Knowing that [Alison] profoundly and permanently damaged as a result of being forced by" their mother "while a pre-teen, to attend terrifying middle-of-the-night satanic worship meetings that included ritual sacrifices," Alison explained, stating that Mariah made these absurd claims.

Alison stated in the document that she had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression and that she had sought professional therapy in an effort to cope with the awful abuse she had experienced. She added that she had been suffering from a number of health difficulties, including a stomach ailment and a degeneration of her lower spine.

Alison asserted that she had a traumatic brain injury as a result of a vicious attack that occurred during an unsolved house invasion in 2015. This injury has a negative impact on her short-term memory and has permanently affected her optic nerve, resulting in restricted vision in one eye. At the same time that she was trying to sell books, she accused her sister, who was affluent and famous, of attacking her because she was "penniless." The claims, which Alison described as "cruel and outrageous," left her in utter disbelief.

Alison stated that "already struggling with the unspeakable trauma of her childhood and having her own children abandon her, she has become severely depressed and uncharacteristically tearful since the publication of [Mariah's] book and now struggles with alcohol abuse after previously being clean for a significant amount of time."

In response to Mariah's "heartless, vicious, vindictive, despicable, and totally unnecessary public humiliation," Alison claimed financial compensation in the amount of $1.25 million.

Alison's filed summons with notice contained the claims, which were mentioned in the document. After a couple of weeks had passed, Mariah made it clear that she was demanding that her sister submit a formal complaint to which she could respond.

According to the court docket, there has been no change in the status of the case since Mariah made her motion. The news that Mariah had lost both her mother, Patricia Carey, and her sister, Alison, on the same day this past week was announced by her on Monday, August 26.

“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day. I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,” Mariah told PEOPLE Magazine.
