Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, added a bit of fun to his busy schedule in New York City with a surprise appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Instead of participating in a traditional interview, Harry, 40, teamed up with Fallon for a spooky adventure through the host's "Tonightmares" haunted maze at Rockefeller Center. The light-hearted segment aired on September 26, providing viewers with a glimpse of the Duke's sense of humor amidst his packed itinerary of charitable engagements.

The haunted maze experience, a part of the Halloween-themed attraction Fallon introduced earlier this year, features ten rooms filled with frightening surprises. In a preview clip from the episode, Harry and Fallon are seen navigating the eerie set, facing off against zombies, wolverines, and a creepy band. At one point, Harry's candid reaction to a sudden scare-grabbing Fallon's chest in surprise-became a highlight of the segment.

"That actually got me," Fallon admitted after one particularly frightening encounter, providing a comedic break in the intense atmosphere. The duo's humorous interactions and shared frights lightened the mood and gave audiences a different perspective on Harry.

This appearance on Fallon's show is not Harry's first foray into late-night TV. Earlier in 2023, while promoting his memoir Spare, the Duke of Sussex appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where he answered Colbert's signature "Colbert Questionert." Harry's light-hearted responses included saying he believes we turn into animals after death, joking that he'd return as an elephant.

Though Harry enjoyed his time in the haunted maze with Fallon, his trip to New York City was primarily focused on his ongoing philanthropic efforts. His week in the city was filled with appearances at various events for causes he passionately supports. Harry kicked off his visit by attending a dinner hosted by the World Health Organization, where he and Queen Mathilde of Belgium discussed the impact of violence on children's mental health.

On September 23, Harry was involved in several key events. He attended the Concordia Summit with The Diana Award, an organization named in honor of his late mother, Princess Diana. There, he shared the stage with The Diana Award CEO Dr. Tessy Ojo and two award recipients, Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang from Indonesia and Christina Williams from Jamaica. During his remarks, Harry emphasized the importance of youth empowerment, saying, "The courage that you have gives me hope because every single one of us need courage in order to really move the dial and create positive change in today's world."

Later that day, Harry delivered a speech at an event supporting The HALO Trust, a humanitarian organization focused on clearing landmines and debris of war-a cause Princess Diana famously supported during her lifetime. Reflecting on his mother's legacy, Harry said, "Carrying on her legacy is a responsibility that I take incredibly seriously."

The Duke of Sussex also participated in a panel discussion led by journalist Katie Couric on behalf of African Parks, an organization he has been involved with since 2016. His commitment to environmental conservation and wildlife protection remains central to his global activism.

On September 24, Harry addressed the Clinton Global Initiative, delivering powerful remarks on the dangers of social media and its impact on young people. He shared a personal moment with the audience, revealing that his phone's lock screen features a photo of his children, Archie and Lilibet. Harry has long been vocal about online safety and the harmful effects of social media, particularly in his work with the Archewell Foundation's Parents Network.

Following his talk, Harry attended the five-year anniversary celebration of Travalyst, a sustainable travel initiative he founded in 2019. The organization, which seeks to promote eco-friendly tourism, has garnered significant industry support, representing a combined market value of nearly $3 trillion. "This is a massive force for good," Harry said, emphasizing the initiative's role in ensuring that tourism not only sustains communities but helps them thrive.

Prince Harry's whirlwind trip to New York City underscored his dedication to the causes he champions, while his appearance on The Tonight Show offered a glimpse of his lighter side. Though Meghan Markle did not accompany him on this visit, the Duke's spokesperson confirmed that his work with the Archewell Foundation remains a top priority.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET.
