A steaming Sofia Vergara is putting on a brave front in the face of her surprising Emmys loss to Jodie Foster. Still, sources indicate that the bombshell, born in Colombia, is deeply troubled by the rejection!
According to sources who divulged the information, the 52-year-old former "Modern Family" star was fit to be tied over the defeat. They insisted that "everybody she knows" in the industry voted for her.
Sofía got a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her performance as Griselda Blanco in Netflix's “Griselda.” However, she did not receive any awards for her performance that evening.
"The show was simply outstanding," an insider told Globe Magazine. "When you compare the viewership numbers and even the critics' reviews, Griselda pretty much blew Jodie's series, ‘True Detective: Night Country’, out of the water!”
"Nobody understands why she lost, and nobody thinks they were seeing Jodie's best work. It was Emmy worthy, but Griselda was an all-timer and Sofía and her team, and Netflix, did everything to pave the way for a win," the source went on.
As a result of her loss, she did not attempt to conceal her resentment.
Sofía went on Instagram, posting, "Me lo robaron ... por quinta vez," which means, "They stole it from me ... for the fifth time." MEAWW reported that she was trying to make the point that she received little acknowledgment for her work on "Modern Family."
It all comes down to envy, the snitch tipped off, but Sofía will never publicly admit it. Thanks to her tremendous financial acumen, she has become extremely wealthy, maintains the appearance of a 35-year-old, and can have almost anything created.
"That kind of elevated status brings out the haters. Truth is, Jodie is the Hollywood darling Sofía will never be,” the tipster claimed.
Sofía's joke about her fifth snub is not intended to be a slight to Jodie for her performance on "True Detective," according to a source, who makes the relevant point, PEOPLE Magazine reported.
"The silver lining here is Netflix is going to figure out another shot at the gold for Sofía, and she'll finally get the Best Actress Emmy she's been chasing."
Despite this, Sofía had a wonderfully enjoyable time at the Netflix Emmys Afterparty, where she posted images with Heidi Klum, her co-judge on "America's Got Talent."
“I didn’t get an Emmy but I got a hamburger,” the actress captioned a video of her during the event.
