It has been rumored that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have purchased a magnificent new vacation property in Europe; however, the home is not located in the United Kingdom.
Following a request from King Charles III, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ultimately moved out of Frogmore Cottage in the previous year. This decision has resulted in them being wholly based in the United States and without a residence on this side of the Atlantic.
The late Queen presented them with the property on the Windsor Estate as a gift immediately after they tied the knot in 2018, and they moved in the following year. After that, they resided there until they made public their desire to resign from their position in the Royal Family in 2020, and they returned the keys in 2023.
According to MailOnline, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are believed to have spent a significant amount of money on a new property in Portugal. By purchasing a residence in Portugal, they are thought to be able to obtain a "Golden Visa."
This will allow them to enter the Schengen area of the European Union without a temporary visa. The Mirror contacted the agents of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the hope of receiving a comment.
Before they left, Meghan and Prince Harry reportedly spent 2.4 million pounds of taxpayers' money on improvements to Frogmore Cottage. This information comes from official royal accounts. A chimney was removed during the renovations, the roof was refinished, and new stairs were installed. The Sussex couple also installed new fireplaces and a new 'floating' wooden floor in the main kitchen area. This was done to protect the older flooring underneath the new one.
Even though Harry and Meghan paid personally for all the fittings, fixtures, and furniture, the renovations were funded by the Sovereign Grant, which subsidizes personnel salaries, maintains palaces, and performs formal royal responsibilities. After utilizing the £2.4 million, Prince Harry and Meghan repaid the expenses in September 2020. Subsequently, a spokesperson for Harry acknowledged that he had paid the entire bill, including his contribution to the grant.
Since leaving Britain in 2020, the couple has made their home in Montecito, California, in a mansion that costs $30 million (or £23.6 million). They brought their two young children, Princess Lilibet, who is five years old, and Prince Archie. Some celebrities who live close to them include Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, and Ellen DeGeneres.
Prince Harry and Meghan's new holiday home purchase came amid former US President Donald Trump's feud with the royal couple. The long-running conflict between Trump and the family of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has taken a new step, as Trump has indicated that he would expel Prince Harry from the United States if it is discovered that the Duke misled him on his visa application.
In an interview with Nigel Farage, as per The Independent, the former president of the United States stated that he would not provide any special treatment to Harry if he were to be re-elected to the White House this year.
After admitting in his memoir "Spare" that he had used drugs in the past, Prince Harry is currently engaged in a court struggle regarding his application for a visa to enter the United States. The laws governing visas in the United States may have rendered him ineligible to enter the country.
