A collection of photographs of Meghan Markle reportedly incited a conflict with Queen Camilla, who was "furious."
The Duchess of Sussex, 42, was photographed during a visit to London's National Theatre in March 2020 in her capacity as patron shortly before formally resigning from her responsibilities. She insisted on the immediate publication of the images despite calls to postpone them to prevent overshadowing Camilla's well-crafted speech against domestic violence.
The four photographs were promptly uploaded to the Sussex Royal Instagram account of Prince Harry, 38, and Meghan on the same day. The Duchess and mother of two were depicted in a white blouse and pencil skirt evaluating the venue's Immersive Storytelling Studio. An insider alleged that Meghan was responsible for posting the images on the same day as Camilla's speech.
They informed The Daily Star that she was accused of attempting to "usurp Camilla's prominence," leaving the now-Queen "very distressed." Senior royals requested Meghan to postpone the release to avoid "overshadowing" the then-Princess of Wales, 76, but she "refused to comply."
Royal analyst Duncan Larcombe stated on Friday that it is comprehensible why Camilla would have been "miffed" regarding the photographs. He informed The Sun Online, "The 'men in grey suits' are diligent in preventing scheduling conflicts and the possibility of one family member eclipsing another on the same day."
Camilla would be correct in feeling displeased. However, as Harry and Meghan persist in their endeavors, disregarding the broader activities of the Royal Family, such conflicts are unavoidable.
“Yesterday, The Duchess of Sussex, Royal patron of the National Theatre, visited the Immersive Storytelling Studio in London, where emerging technology like Virtual Reality is being used to develop new forms of emotive storytelling," read the caption of the post, which is now unavailable since Harry and Meghan closed the account.
Recently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Stanford University, where their educational experience featured a virtual reality presentation that enables users to perceive life from another individual's perspective, The Mirror reported.
"The goal of this method of virtual reality is to enable us to better connect and empathize with each other as people, regardless of race, age or nationality. The Duchess is pictured here with Nubiya Brandon and her hologram, featured in the National’s exhibition ‘All Kinds of Limbo’, which is currently being presented at the Tate Modern," it stated.
Despite attracting more than 500,000 “likes” at the time, the post drew a mixed response from followers. One blasted the duchess for having “a bad vibe,” while others described her as “cringey.” The incident occurred when Prince Harry and Meghan returned to the UK for several engagements before officially stepping down as working royals.
