Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek are in perfect harmony.
Close insiders to the A-listers have denied that there is a rivalry between them following the viral video that surfaced of the "Big Little Lies" actress, 57, and the "Frida" actor, 58, appearing to engage in a spat at the Balenciaga show during Paris Fashion Week.
"There is nothing to this. They are close friends," a source confirmed to The National Enquirer. "Salma and Nicole truly love each other."
In the footage of the intense exchange, Nicole and Salma were posing for photos together at the runway show when a photographer requested "one more" photograph of the tandem, as per PerezHilton.com. The actress from "Grown Ups" appeared to attempt to position "The Hour's" heroine for the shot, but she did not seem satisfied.
Then, Nicole grasped Salma's palm and shifted it to the side. The Australian actress shortly shifted her focus to engage with Katy Perry, with whom she appeared to have been conversing. Salma, 39, seemed to inform the "Firework" singer, 39, "Yes, please. Advice." after Nicole departed the scene, appearing to be irritated.
The interaction left social media users in awe. "Those girls are fighting," a user of X, previously known as Twitter, stated about the awkward moment.
"I can hear Nicole 'You don’t need them' (am guessing the paparazzi) and Salma [said] 'Yes I do.' [I] am [on] Salma's side," one individual made an allegation, while another stated: "I hear Salma say 'yes please act nice.'"
"I have no context for this, but it seems that Salma Hayek has little education. How can you move the other person like that? She is positioning Nicole Kidman as if she were 5 years old and her daughter. The only thing Salma had to do was tell Nicole to turn around," added a fourth remark.
According to body language expert Darren Stanton, the exchange could be minimized to a miscommunication. "The critical moment seems to be that Nicole was posing for photos with Katy Perry. As Nicole goes to walk away, Salma pulls her back, puts her hand across her and pushes her back into [formation]," he elaborated to OK! Magazine.
However, Nicole has reportedly reached her breaking point and will not play ball. Salma will likely approach it, as Nicole thinks it is appropriate to pose for photographs for the paparazzi, and Salma is willing to walk away.
Stanton said the altercation could be traced back to Nicole's evident objections, where the conflict originated. Nicole makes a signal with her finger, lifting it and shaking it to convey the message that she will not put up with this. After that, you see Salma holding her hand in a manner reminiscent of a motion that a law enforcement official may make to instruct someone.
