Miley Cyrus, a pop provocateur, is at the top of the wish list of “American Idol” staffers who are anxious to fill Katy Perry's vacant judging seat. However, sources claimed that cheapskate employers may get in the way of their goals and make it impossible for them to fulfill their ambitions.
It has been reported by industry insiders that the former “Hannah Montana” child star, who is now 31 years old, is in negotiations to replace Katy, who is 39 years old, in the television singing competition. However, the executives are hesitant to offer Miley the same remuneration of $25 million each season as Perry, who is known for her hit song "Hot N Cold."
“With Katy finally getting back to making music full time, Disney and ABC are looking to replace her with just as big a name — at a somewhat discounted price,” an unnamed informant told The National Enquirer.
As the number of people watching the long-running reality show continues to decrease, the tipster explained that the talent's take must also decrease.
“Nobody at the network wants to pay Katy prices for Katy’s replacement. The show absolutely has to get a little bit cheaper because the ratings are slowly declining,” the mole dished.
On the other hand, the spy claimed that Miley would play hardball and go for the fences.
“Miley loves the reality competition space. She has a lot more fun judging and mentoring than she has in her forays into acting as an adult, and she also knows her fans actually show up to watch her on these shows,” the tattler said.
“That’s really her secret weapon. The only thing keeping the two sides apart at the moment is Miley’s fee — but she is absolutely the first choice to replace Katy!” it went on.
Business Times has reached out to Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry for comments.
Meanwhile, Miley made her comeback to Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, California, to perform her hit song "Flowers," during which she publicly criticized Kendall Jenner, Entertainment Tonight reported.
Nearly two hundred people were present at the celebrity hot spot on Thursday night to witness the performance of the GRAMMY-winning pop diva, who has not been on tour since the year 2022. This particular occasion was held in order to commemorate Gucci Flora, the fragrance that Miley has been representing since the year 2021.
During the singer's performance in front of the audience, Miley wore a small black Gucci dress that she complemented with a massive gold necklace and black sunglasses. The atmosphere was dense, with a blend of celebrity and fashion.
"Why am I singing and you're not?" The event was given a more lighthearted tone by Miley's witty remark. "Is that Kendall Jenner doing harmonies?" As the former Disney employee played "Flowers," she laughed and improvised while doing so. She changed the color "cherry red" to "Ancora red," which was a reference to the color that was created by Sabato De Sarno, the creative director of Gucci, who was present in the audience.
A personalized rendition of the post-breakup anthem was performed by her, and the audience applauded her performance. "Started to cry, but then remembered… I'm the face of Gucci," Miley crooned.
Jenner, Salma Hayek, Kim Petras, Rumer Willis, Maeve Reilly, Chloe Kim, Kaytranada, Symone, Claudia Sulewski, Law Roach, and Yves Tumor were among the celebrities who attended the event as guests.
This is not the first time that Miley has made a statement to the congregation. During her performance of "Flowers" at the Grammy Awards in February, the singer and songwriter, who is 31 years old, took a time to address the audience for presumably not giving it the enthusiasm that she was anticipating.
"Why are y’all acting like y’all don’t know this song?" Miley said while on the GRAMMYs stage.
Two audience members immune to that criticism were Taylor Swift and Oprah Winfrey, who were both spotted jamming out to the song from the crowd, singing along to the words and dancing as Miley continued to belt out her now GRAMMY-winning track.
The "Wrecking Ball" singer also used the pauses in her song to shout out her excitement over her first GRAMMY win, which came for "Flowers" in the Best Pop Solo Performance category. "I just won my first GRAMMY!!" the exuberant Miley stated mid-song, causing the audience to burst into applause.
