Princess Eugenie and Meghan Markle are rekindling their relationship as they prepare to spend time together in Portugal. However, senior royals have warned her to refrain from becoming a pawn in the Sussexes' attempt to get back into the royal family, a new report claimed.
Prince Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, invested $8 million in a spacious residence located approximately one hour south of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. The property is situated in close proximity to the vacation residence of the prince's cousin, Eugenie, 34, and her husband, Jack, Hindustan Times reported.
After being evicted from Frogmore Cottage by King Charles over a year ago, the couple was compelled to reside in their $30 million Montecito, California, mansion for the majority of their time.
Prince Harry's attempt to rebuild a connection with his father and sibling is indicated by the couple's return to Europe, which indicates a change in their sentiments toward the royal family, as per The Guardian. The Sussexes are fortunate in that they continue to have some allies within the royal circle.
The insider observed that, despite the fact that "Eugenie was under pressure to distance herself from Meghan and Prince Harry to prove her loyalty to the crown," the headstrong princess has "clearly had a change of heart and she and Jack are now doing their best to support Meghan and Harry.”
Since their decision to resign from their royal duties and pursue their own interests, which include a lifestyle brand, Netflix documentaries, and a winery, in January 2020, the Sussexes have been ignored by the family for years.
The action left a bitter taste in the mouths of senior members, establishing battle lines and compelling many to choose a side. This led Eugenie to “fear that her association with them might affect her standing within the royal family,” at least, “for a while,” the source adds.
As the ice begins to melt for the redheaded monarch and his American wife, “[Eugenie] feels strongly they’re doing the right thing, but there’s no denying it’s stirring up trouble for them.”
“Fact is, this is being seen as them taking the Sussexes’ side and it’s not sitting well with a lot of people in the Firm, particularly Camilla and William, who are convinced Meghan and Harry are still using Eugenie to get intel on the rest of the family.”
“They’re very suspicious and let it be known that this will make Eugenie and Jack outsiders by association if they continue this close relationship with Meghan and Harry. And the more openly Team Sussex she and Jack are, the worse it’s going to get.”
As the future queen, Princess Kate has no concerns about rejection and has been quietly encouraging the wayward couple's return to royal life. She has informed her heir-apparent husband, “in no uncertain terms, that this is not the time for resentment, they needed to show the world that love and family are front and center of their values,” a second source had previously informed In Touch Weekly.
In reality, the Palace's decision to publicly wish Prince Harry a happy birthday in September was influenced by the Princess of Wales, 42, who expressed that the gesture "meant the world to him."
Despite the fact that there are groups that are aligned in support of Prince Harry and Meghan, Eugenie and her spouse are “being strongly advised to rethink this decision,” the first source stated, “but so far, they’re ignoring all warnings, which is being seen as very foolish on their part.”
