Prince Harry has disclosed a distressing account of the royal family's failure to provide him with the necessary support during his mental health challenges.

The Duke of Sussex publicly discussed the profound effects of losing his mother, Princess Diana, at a young age, as well as the psychological toll of his military service in Afghanistan, in his 2023 Netflix documentary, "Heart of Invictus," a five-part series.

During a candid conversation with the audience, Prince Harry shared a poignant account of one of the most challenging periods of his life: the mental toll it had on him following the death of his mother, Princess Diana. He asserted in the documentary that he lacked the necessary infrastructure to receive assistance.

HELLO! Magazine reported that he alleges that the royal family lacked a support structure or network to help him assess his situation following the incident.

Prince Harry shared his realization of the importance of professional assistance in a raw moment. However, after he had given due consideration to therapy, he found himself in the fetal position.

"Unfortunately, like me, the first time you really consider therapy is when you're lying on the floor in the foetal position, probably wishing that you'd dealt with some of this stuff previously. And that's what I really want to change," the Duke of Sussex stated.

Prince Harry underscored the urgent necessity for improved mental health support, particularly for individuals in comparable circumstances, by sharing harsh truths, PEOPLE Magazine reported. The Duke also contemplated his tour of Afghanistan, acknowledging that the experiences he encountered there catalyzed his emotional turmoil.

Prince Harry explained that there was an unraveling after his return from Afghanistan in 2012, as triggers from his childhood resurfaced. The trauma he experienced as a result of losing his mother at a tender age was never addressed.

Like many young people, Prince Harry suppressed those emotions and never truly discussed them. However, the duke was amazed when it all came tumbling out, experiencing every emotion rather than remaining numb.

The series features a camera crew accompanying Prince Harry and Meghan during the 2022 Invictus Games in the Netherlands. In the wake of the "Harry & Meghan" documentary, Prince Harry is currently engaged in a multi-million-pound agreement with Netflix as an executive producer.

The documentary's objective is to emphasize the resilience of those who have endured significant challenges and demonstrate the extensive preparation that goes into the Invictus Games, which have been Prince Harry's lifelong passion. The inaugural event was held in 2014, and this year marks the tenth anniversary of the game's inception.
